I might have to post some side awards for most sheep, etc. before final standings go up.

Not that it matters since I'm so far out of the running, but the Academy Awards were definitely in February. I remember distinctly watching them during a ski vacation we took at the end of Feb. Looks like the womens march was in January though...

Yup. A quick trip to google shows the march taking place on Jan. 21, and the Oscars on Feb. 26. 3pts for everyone that picked option J?

Re: TD 364 - 2017 in Review - Bonus 1 revealed

Post by SenseiCAY »

Here are the results from the first bonus, where you were asked to name as many of the award winners listed in Q2 as you could, not counting your actual answer. If you dropped or sheeped this question, I subtracted 1 from however many correct answers you listed. If you got this wrong, I only counted correct answers for the answers that you did not attempt (i.e. putting down the correct answer for your incorrect attempt wouldn't count).

Deserving recognition for their (incorrect) answers on this are twelvefootboy, who listed 3 people who won...not much...in 2017 - the Cleveland Browns, Tiger Woods, and Sean Spicer - and ElendilPickle, who managed to hit one correct response using the "shotgun" method of listing a bunch of answers and seeing if any stuck (and one did): "Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Bjorn Borg, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears"

Players receiving at least one bonus point are listed below:

Username (# correct, bonus) = total bonus
---------------
wpwells (9, most correct) = -9
casketromance (9, most correct) = -9
jbeltz (8, third most correct) = -4
clt013 (8, third most correct) = -4
badgerfellow (7) = -2
Floridagator (7) = -2
guessonguessonguess (7) = -2
merica (6) = -2
bev nar (6) = -2
9021amyers (6) = -2
threearruda (6) = -2
tjconn728 (5) = -1
Vintsanity (5) = -1
CheezeWhiz (4) = -1
xxaaaxx (4) = -1
coach P (4) = -1
nklotz (4) = -1
Peachbox (4) = -1
joenguyen90 (3) = -1
lindap (3) = -1
econgator (3) = -1
ChexMix (4) = -1
classicroadster (4) = -1
MarkBarrett (4) = -1
Blue Lion (4) = -1
clprez (3) = -1

Standings after the first bonus:

41. coach P - 82
40. clprez [s] - 80
38. Armandillo - 72 (-1)
38. Troydozzy - 72 (-1)
36. lindap [s] - 71 (+1)
36. MattKnowles [d][s] - 71
35. nklotz [s] - 68
34. bev nar [d][s] - 65 (-1)
31. immaf - 64 (-1)
31. jbeltz [d][s] - 64 (+3)
31. classicroadster [s] - 64 (+1)
30. Ironhorse - 63 (-1)
27. Tybalteon - 62 (-1)
27. guessonguessonguess [d][s] - 62 (+3)
27. Gamawire [d][s] - 62 (-1)

2. xxaaaxx [s] - 40 (-1)
2. 9021amyers [s] - 40 (+1)

Re: TD 364 - 2017 in Review - Bonus #1 revealed

Post by SenseiCAY »

For bonus #2, I asked you to name any or all of the three tokens replaced by the T-Rex, rubber ducky, and penguin tokens this past year, for up to -6 points. Those tokens were the wheelbarrow, boot (or shoe), and thimble. One correct would net -1 point, two would get -3, and all three correct would receive a bonus of -6, but if any attempts were incorrect, you'd get no bonus here.

Twelvefootboy is apparently playing the X-rated version of monopoly, where the gun, knife, and dildo were this year's retired tokens. For everyone else, the following players dropped by at least one bonus point:

Username (bonus)
---------------
Sims(-1)
badgerfellow(-1)
casketromance(-1)
classicroadster(-1)
joenguyen90(-1)
tjconn728(-1)
bev nar(-3)
wpwells(-3)
xxaaaxx(-3)
Floridagator(-6)
Gamawire(-6)
MarkBarrett(-6)
guessonguessonguess(-6)
jbeltz(-6)

Standings after the second bonus:

41. coach P - 82
40. clprez [s] - 80
38. Armandillo - 72
38. Troydozzy - 72
36. MattKnowles [d][s] - 71
36. lindap [s] - 71
35. nklotz [s] - 68
34. immaf - 64 (-3)
32. Ironhorse - 63 (-2)
32. classicroadster [s] - 63 (-1)
30. bev nar [d][s] - 62 (+4)
30. Tybalteon - 62 (-3)
28. twelvefootboy - 61 (-3)
28. CheezeWhiz [d][s] - 61 (-3)
25. Woppy T [s] - 58 (-3)
25. jbeltz [d][s] - 58 (+6)
25. merica [s] - 58 (-3)
23. tjconn728 [s] - 57 (-1)
23. threearruda [s] - 57 (-2)
21. guessonguessonguess [d][s] - 56 (+6)
21. Gamawire [d][s] - 56 (+6)
19. joenguyen90 [s] - 55 (+1)
19. ChexMix [s] - 55 (-1)
18. Blue Lion [s] - 54 (-1)
16. ElendilPickle [s] - 53 (-1)
16. AmericanIdiot [s] - 53 (-1)
15. acthomas [s] - 52 (-1)
14. Peter the Accountant - 51 (-1)
11. Sims - 49 (+1)
11. MarkBarrett [s] - 49 (+7)
11. AFRET CMS [s] - 49
9. econgator [s] - 48 (-1)
9. clt013 [d][s] - 48 (-1)
8. Vintsanity - 45 (-2)
7. wpwells - 44
6. Peachbox [s] - 43 (-1)
5. Floridagator [d][s] - 42 (+3)
3. 9021amyers [s] - 40 (-1)
3. casketromance - 40 (+1)
2. badgerfellow - 38 (-1)
1. xxaaaxx [s] - 37 (+1)

The jostling for the top spot continues, as xxaaaxx gets -3 to badgerfellow's -1. Floridagator creeps into the top 5.

Thanks for the TD, and congrats to my fellow podium-mates.

I will never, ever figure this game out. I've had a keen knack for picking sheep lately, even when taking time to think over my answers, and yet here I have my best wire-to-wire perfomance in ages, and it was in a TD I forgot about and had to rush to submit my answers literally 30 seconds before the deadline.

In that frantic rush, I couldn't remember all of the tokens that were replaced, but I'm still annoyed that they replaced the boot. I was always the boot or the car as a kid :(

I was hitting above my weight class there for a while, but found a sheep near the end and faded back towards my usual spot. Still, my best finish yet.

Thanks for the fun TD!

I was only three points adrift, and I dropped the Switch cover art question because I had literally didn’t have time to scroll through the images. If I had given myself a few more minutes, I would have picked Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for a singleton, received a four-point bonus for no drops, and we’d have been tied for the win!

It looks like Floridagator, bev nar, and I did not receive credit for saving our drop/sheep.

You had to get all 10 right for that. I’ll check to make sure my code was working.

Same here...I'm running an experiment in TD 365 where I take time to submit then come back a couple days later and just sort of wing it on a piece of paper. The results through Q3: Entry, 22 points (2 sheep). Wing it: 12 points (no sheep). So maybe next one I'll just wing it without any real consideration.
