Instaget for Crimea. Vacillated between Woolf and Christie but went with Woolf. I hate opera, no chance on this one. I hate Chevy in general and Corvettes in particular (Porsche FTW!) but instaget anyway. And to round out the trifecta, I hate comic books, but dismissed Marvel, thought for a few seconds and went with Archie.
Knew Diana Nyad but no hope on the other two. The state in which I was born has a Murray State, but no Transylvania.

5/5, 3/3. I have friends that went to both Transy and Murray State.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

Re: FJ!s for the 1/1/18 week
Starting the year off right with my third 5-for-5 of the season (the weeks of 10/2 and 10/23 were the other two).
Crimea, Figaro, and Archie were instagets.
Immediately got Virginia Woolf based on her date of death, but worried she might not have three works in a top 25 list.
Was pretty certain the Corvette has a checkered flag in its logo and that it was introduced in the early fifties. Fleur-de-lis plus a French name sealed the deal.
Couldn't pull Diana Nyad's very apt name in time.
Thought Murray St. and Transylvania U. might be in Kentucky but clammed.
Ergonomics is the study of work; ergo, "ergophobia" is the fear of work.
I would prefer not to.

That's a pretty sweeping statement. Sure, like any other form of art/entertainment, the vast majority of comic books are mediocre to complete garbage. But there are lots of thoughtful, well done comic books made by cartoonists such as Jaime Hernandez, Eddie Campbell, and Tom Hart, to name just a few.
I would prefer not to.

Faried went to Morehead St., not Murray.threearruda wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2018 9:16 am
Got Murray State thanks to basketball and Kenneth Faried; those two were part of a Final Response in Sports Jeopardy (that I missed ) about a year and a half ago.

I'd be interested to see for those who got Kentucky whether they got it based on Murray State (as I did) or on Transylvania U.

Oh, I won't deny that for the last 15+ years, a big chunk of my comic book animus is from the obscene proliferation of superhero movies. But fundamentally, I really dislike getting any significant story from cramped illustrations and dinky dialog balloons. Just not my thing at all.Bartleby wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2018 5:09 pmThat's a pretty sweeping statement. Illustrations that support a prose story...that can work for me through. Example - Animal Farm with illustrations by Ralph Steadman; absolutely brilliant.

I think I said Agatha Christie on Tuesday, Grand Prix on Thursday.
