Never read or seen the Fleming/Bond work
No guess for jack-tar as I was thinking hotel
I've eaten a Triscuit cracker, but probably not more than five. Not a fan.

I said Tahiti instead of Martinique. No guess for jack-tar.

I feel like I learned the Armistice Day -> Veterans Day fact on "Double Dare" in the early '90s; it's definitely something I've known for a long time, but it hadn't come to much use till this week.

I thought about posting in Tuesday's discussion thread that Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay for You Only Live Twice, but I didn't, and then the next day HQ had a question saying, "The author of 'Matilda' also wrote the screenplay for a film in what series?"

Have both read the book and seen the movie. I thought it would be harder (for people who don't recognize the quote) to puzzle out than it seems to have been.
Considered Remembrance but ruled it out.
I have almost certainly eaten at least one Triscuit, although I can't point to any particular time when I would have.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Should have been a 5/5 week. So far I'm the only person who's had to mark "Decoration," I should have known better...
"Jack Tar" seems vaguely familiar, like something from H.M.S. Pinafore, but only after the fact...
Saw YOLT when I was a kid. They used to have Bond double features Saturday afternoons at the local movie theater.

Not a single guess. Can't believe I missed Triscuit since I eat them all the time.

I knew Lanolin because of US Acres.

Guessed "The Great Escape" as a possible double meme, knowing the book was actually Seven Samurai written earlier.
I picked the wrong possessive pronoun, back when we used to call them that.

I knew Lanolin because as a young Ceramic Engineering Tech was told that Sheep Shearers lose their fingernails because of excess exposure to lanolin, which we used as a binder. (I cannot confirm this online).

Not a fan of the triscuit and thought they were recently introduced to coincide with the rising popularity of dips.
Disclaimer - repeated exposure to author's musings may cause befuddlement.

?? Are you thinking of The Magnificent Seven? The Great Escape is based on real events from World War 2.

How are there people who have never eaten a Triscuit?

Seems like there are lots of people who aren't fans of Triscuits, but I think they're pretty good--assuming you don't choke on one.

My grandmother practically lived on Triscuits and tea (that is, she did live, but perhaps those were not quite the whole of her diet). I like them well enough on their own, and certainly with cheese.

I've read several James Bonds, but not this one. Nor seen the film. I have heard the song, and read the MAD spoof.

"On Armistice Day, the Philharmonic will play. But the songs that they sing will be sad".
I'm smart and I want respect.

Very frustrating week.
Monday: wrong word in front of American Cousin. Technically, no word, but no word was the wrong word.
Tuesday: tip-of-the-tounge syndrome. Saw the movie.
Wednesday: finally right
Thursday: another TOTT day. Got no further than "tri". Almost always have a box of Triscuits on the shelf. A bit of summer sausage and cheese on a triscuit is a staple of our household snacking.
Friday: solved the riddle, picked the wrong city. Ottawa really needs a MLB or NFL team so Americans can remember it. It's NHL team isn't quite enough.

I could have been 5 for 5, as I am familiar with all of these. I'm at the multiple-choice stage of knowledge on these - I can pick these right answers out when listed with some good alternatives, but the cold recall of J! is just enough harder. That's in contrast to literature and a few other topics, where I probably wouldn't know the right answer if it had flashing lights around it.

Well, you might have had "is" in front of it.
