One of the easier weeks in memory, with the exception of Mycroft for non-Holmes fans, and the potentially unexpected wealth of right-sounding responses on Friday.
Must have been -- this was maybe my second 8/8 ever on the weekly poll. I think I'm 5/5 on FJ four times in the last five weeks, but I always miss at least one of the other poll clues. Sometimes all of them.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Sure -- based on your photo, you and Richard Gere could do a tap dance duet at a murder trial.

I obviously knew Mycroft, but my brain blurted out "Moriarty" and I scrolled down before thinking to correct myself. No credit.

Missed Novosibirsk, got the others.

I clicked "luck" on the Pippi Longstocking survey, but I like to think it was a case of making my own luck.

I just learned this from nserven's post in another thread: Ed McMahon gave checks away for American Family Publishing; PCH has never had a celebrity spokesperson.

The classic musical revue "New Faces of 1952" contains a Lizzie Borden number in which the citizens of Fall River agree to combine the trial with the Saturday night hoedown, and Paul Lynde plays the judge. The refrain is "You can't chop yer mama up in Massachusetts. . ." It's a real toe-tapper.

Richard Gere is not THAT handsome! ;) But tap dancing should come naturally for a twelvefooted boy.

I was hoping to see "usury" polled. I don't have a good sense of how widely known the concept is; it's wheelhouse to me given my religious ethics background

Sorry, no usury in the poll. If you made a request I missed it. If not then that is the path. The Archive for last week was lacking for games filled in. When that happens I go to my game recordings in order and scout around for extra clues. It's unlikely I'll fail to find 3 before the Friday game.

I got usury and I would credit it to high school vocabulary, Bible and crossword puzzles before any kind of trivia thing including J!

I probably know "usury" entirely from reading The Merchant of Venice in high school.

Laws against excessive interest are still called usury laws.

Falling behind in the polls again (which usually means something different). Eloise on Friday. I've read at least one Pippi Longstocking book but it was probably 45 years ago. Have received something from PCH.
