TD 368 - PRESIDENTS' DAY - FINAL RESULTS

Post by floridagator »

Welcome to TD 368! This TD is about the presidents of the United States. It closes on Presidents' Day, Monday, February 19, at 9:00 AM EST.

For each question below, there are a number of choices. Choose one as your answer. Think Different is scored by the number of people who submit the same answer. It's best to be the only person who chooses a particular answer. The most common answer is called the sheep. You don't want to be a sheep. Incorrect answers get the sheep score plus five points. Low score wins. Bonus questions will allow you to reduce your score by up to nine.

You may drop one question and sheep one question. (To sheep means to accept the highest score on a question without fear of giving an incorrect answer.) These answers must come from your head; not your computer, reference library, or smartphone. No research is allowed. Last names are fine except when more is needed to identify presidents with the same last name. Submit your answers here: https://form.jotform.com/80417221193146

1. PRESIDENTS BEFORE AND AFTER I

You know the drill. Take two parts of the clue and combine them so they overlap. Example: Current Supreme Court justice who wrote the Declaration of Independence: Clarence Thomas Jefferson. • Father of the country who wrote "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"
  • Chipmunk brothers who speak softly and carry a big stick
  • Founding father who served as president in a wheelchair
  • Singer of "Your Song" who led the invasion of Normandy

  • Cleveland Cavaliers great who served only six months
  • Constitutional architect who starred in "Cory in the House"

For #10, is it required that the appointee immediately became Chief Justice, or is it acceptable if the judge later ascended to that position within SCOTUS?

The president who made the appointment as chief justice. Whether the person had already served on the Court is irrelevant.

What does "will be scored separately" mean, when it comes to naming a year with 3 Presidents?

It means the years of three presidents will be scored separately and not pooled together as one answer.

Just a hint on one of the Before and After clues. It's OK to take some liberty with spelling on "The Great Communicator with three Shakespearean daughters."

I had a gut feeling that James Madison Pettis was going to be a singleton when I typed it in simply due to the fact that I'm younger than everyone else. I remember when Cory in the House was a new show and I liked it a lot, but sadly it only got two seasons. I also vividly remember getting up at 5:30 am to watch that show amongst Disney Channel's Throwback Thursday slot a few years ago just to relive the good old days! :D

Only nine choices and seven of them where easy, so I dropped this question like a hot potato. I was beating my head against the wall trying to think who nos. 1 and 7 were though. I knew the #7 photo had too sharp definition to be before mid-20th century but I totally forgot about Trump as a possibility.
Can barely see the resemblance on LBJ's picture, only after finding out it's him. He needs more forehead wrinkles.
FDR is the next least obvious. I almost picked him but I decided to play it safe.
