Re: TD 373 - Tourney Time (Q1-Q3 revealed)
I was nervous about Bettendorf as I wasn't sure how big it is. I think I've accidentally crossed into it before when driving through downtown Davenport.

Re: TD 373 - Tourney Time (Q4-Q6 revealed)
4. 1997: After a certain WWE figure paid off the NCAA to give the 1996 champ an automatic bid, he messed up the whole thing by trying to transfer that invitation from the actual winner to another conference team that was "on the bubble". The NCAA claimed the berth was a "non-transferrable privilege", so a year later there was no bid on the line. That same WWE figure also conveniently booked wrestling shows in arenas throughout the Midwest on 1997 tournament day - leaving the conference to play these games in outdoor venues. Years later, the NHL began holding regular season games outside. Given the stadium, name one of these cities to host an outdoor hockey game since 2008. [Only city name is necessary.]

Re: TD 373 - Tourney Time (Q1-Q6 revealed)
I misunderstood Question 4, giving a team name instead of just the letter. Then again, all of the responses I was debating over were B-names, so knowing that probably wouldn’t have done me any good.

Re: TD 373 - Tourney Time (Q1-Q6 revealed)
For anyone who submitted a team name for #5, I just used the first letter of their response.
All of those responses started with a correct "letter" and none of the additional information was incorrect, so I did not count them wrong.

i went with the team for that question...wonder what the outcome would have been if a team name was required rather than a letter9021amyers wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 5:12 pm I misunderstood Question 4, giving a team name instead of just the letter. Re: TD 373 - Tourney Time (Q1-Q6 revealed)
much appreciated...totally missed the part where it asked for a letter...was going to go with loyola marymount rather than weber state, but since loyola chicago made a lot of news during this year's ncaa tournament, i thought that might trigger people coming up with loyola marymount

MarkBarrett (H - Vancouver)
You should have seen the look on my face. My first reaction was, "What! Did I have the wrong letter?" Then the realization hit me. Ohhhhh! In the speed of a J! game sure that mistake can happen. In a TD game I have no excuse. My punishment will be a refresher on the Canadian capitals as obviously I've lost a step since memorizing them years ago.

A textbook example of an answer just obscure enough for several players to think they’re onto something.
Meanwhile, Celine and Alanis go unused in a question about Canadian singers. Never change...

At first instinct I wrote down James Polk on my answer sheet. Then I overthought it and changed it to Buchanan....bunnuva sitch.Saturnalia wrote: Of course Rutherford Hayes and James Buchanan are the sheep in a question about American presidents. Never change, jboard...
Woulda had a 2 point lead right now if I'd stuck with Polk.
