At least you didn't purposefully ignore the team whose logo is your profile picture that ended up being unused.

609 - NEW JERSEY

New Jersey is named for a European island. Name a European island.

SINGLETONS

Kirbstar Faroe Islands
Congrats to Kirbstar for the singleton. I was in Kirkwall year before last, so thought about "Orkney Islands." However, I don't remember the names of any of the individual islands in the group, and because of the phrasing, didn't know if a plural for the group would be acceptable.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

I'm glad to see Poppin' Fresh get so much name recognition here--so many years after losing the lead role in Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Post by BobF »

My wife was on Aran Island off the coast of Ireland almost 2 years ago and she brought home a sweater that she loves to tell people about. It's finally paid dividends!

Wasn't Columbus FROM Genoa? I dismissed that answer for that very reason. Kind of a loose definition of "visit".

And here I thought I was being clever by saying Spain (I wanted to go Madrid but I wasn't sure what the capital of Spain was - kudos to the people who said the palace or Madrid) but 8 other people thought nearly the same as I did.

I almost went with the Gene Autry song for this question. Had I done that and also chosen the MLB team he used to own in my native county, I could've dodged two sheep, but noooooooo . . .

I can't believe so many of you knew Marty Robbins and Alabama for the country music question - Robbins is the only country singer, to my knowledge, to have a second career as a race car driver.

Two singletons moves me up --- two spots. Awesome. Love how Harvard and every well-known African country were largely ignored. Love ya TD!

Thanks for playing. Don't forget TD 377 is out there right now and TD 378 will be posted soon. The next TD in this area codes ring will be posted on Sunday May 6th.

619 - CALIFORNIA

The classic 619 is the high desert of California. You're really experiencing the desert when you're in the classic 619 (which is now the 760). Answer one of these questions about the California desert.
  • What 8000 square mile body of water was created by accident in 1905 when the Colorado River overflowed?
  • What national park is named for a desert arboreal with outstretched limbs that greatly resemble arms?
  • What desert covers most of southern California?
  • What valley contains the cities of Palm Springs, Indio, Rancho Mirage, and La Quinta?
  • How many palm trees did Col. Washington spot at an oasis while surveying in 1852? Need a hint?
  • What national park is home of Badwater, Scotty's Castle, and Zabriskie Point?
  • What California city is mentioned in this song?
  • Two of the most famous desert rats are undoubtedly a singer from El Centro noted for such contributions to music as "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" and "Dark Lady" and her onetime husband, who served as mayor and congressman from Palm Springs. Who was this couple?
  • What mastermind of a spree of murders that shocked the world holed out the ghost town of Ballarat in the Panamint Valley?
  • Name the two cities with complementary names at the border between California and Mexico

Wow - a podium finish after 4th place in the previous one. Bracing for the inevitable crash back to reality.

Thanks for putting all of these together.

Did not expect a podium finish after sheeping the first two questions.

Looking forward to the rest! Thanks for putting these together so far.
