5/3/18 FJ Poll [SPOILER!]
We might as well settle this now.
There are two parts to answer -- how often you've seen it, and an attempt to cross-correlate with age. Please provide TWO answers.

38, and it's on a long list of acclaimed movies that I haven't gotten around to. I'll be honest, I'm a TV-phile first, action movie junkie second, and everything else is a distant third. I'll get to it, someday soon.
PS: I'm not counting the two or three 30-second clips (shocked, shocked) I've seen on Youtube.

Re: 5/3/18 FJ Poll [SPOILER!]
Sure I've seen it more than once, and I've also seen at least half a dozen scenes from it over and over in ducumentaries about the Oscars, '40s movies, Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Woody Allen (Play it Again, Sam)... There was a piece about its enduring popularity on 60 Minutes sometime in the '80s.
Earlier this week, Tracy Morgan was watching it with the ex-cons at his halfway house (on his cable series The Last O.G.). He stopped watching when one of the guys told him how it ends.

I've seen it once and I really need to watch it again. It's one of those where you see it and go, "there's a reason this is regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time. The reason is, IT'S REALLY GOOD".
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

59 and seen it 10+ times. The Maltese Falcon is also a very good Bogart movie that can be seen multiple times.

58, and I've seen it several times. But I missed FJ.
Teems with quiet fun.

I'm more partial to Fred C. Dobbs, but I had a Casablanca movie poster on the wall of my childhood bedroom--in addition to a Humphrey Bogart spiral notebook in my junior high locker and a Humphrey Bogart pin on my jean jacket. I still missed the FJ.

I saw it in Hollywood Forever Cemetery in 2010 with my sister and some new pub quiz friends; I was 26.

Re: 5/3/18 FJ Poll [SPOILER!]
57 here and have seen it enough to have memorized a lot of it; easily more than 25 times.
It's not even my favorite classic movie but it's near the top of the list. The Maltese Falcon, To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep and The African Queen are other great Bogart movies.
Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday, Stagecoach, Goodbye Mr. Chips, Mrs. Miniver, Now Voyager, The Grapes of Wrath, The Shop Around the Corner, Ninotchka, Rebecca, Swing Time, The Thirty-Nine Steps, Foreign Correspondent ... just a few others from about the same era (pre-1945).
And I'd put money down that Alex has seen all of those several times as well - enough that he's probably memorized more than a few lines.

I'm 66, and have seen the film dozens of times. Never considered it as a response to Thursday's FJ clue.

I missed it as well, found myself thinking countries. And I've seen the movie so damn many times. Next week, I'll probably miss a Revenge of the Nerds FJ.squarekara wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 2:54 pm I'm more partial to Fred C. Saw it for the first time in a film class in college and it was easily the best and most memorable of the movies I saw for the class. Others that I remember from the class were It's a Wonderful Life, All the President's Men, All the King's Men, The Last Hurrah(?) not sure of the title, but it had Spencer Tracy as an aging mayor(?) who was about to get beat in a reelection campaign.

Can't really answer the 2nd part given the choices... I have definitely seen parts of it (didn't like and will never watch the whole thing) and I'm in the oldest age group.
So, I can't truthfully say "I've NEVER seen it and in the oldest age group", or "I've seen it and am in the oldest age group". because seeing parts of it is NOT "seeing it", nor is it NOT "seeing it".

37, never seen it. I've seen clips (particularly, I remember watching AFI's "100 Years, 100 Quotes" where it was well represented), but I don't think that should count enough to say "parts, maybe."
Got the clue right, though.

Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

For the last group of options, I'm assuming he means the film in its entirety.Rackme32 wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 6:55 pm Can't really answer the 2nd part given the choices... I have definitely seen parts of it (didn't like and will never watch the whole thing) and I'm in the oldest age group.
