Do they film all 5 shows back to back on one day, keeping the contestants isolated so that will not know how the results of the other contestants?
That is exactly what they do. Every tournament for 35 years, to the best of my knowledge.

I loved the pronunciation of Pleiades. But then I say Illinoizzz, and ConneCt-icut, and Hawa-ya for those three states and flip-flop on Missourie-Missourah depending on usage.
Ah, but do you pronounce Topeka's state as kinSAW? ;)
Of course not! You're mixing up with the land of opportunity, Ar-KanSAS.
Of all these manglings, most are personal middle child cries for help, but Hawa-ya is absolutely indigenous pronunciation of the Aloha State. IllinoiZ is infrequent but also heard if you hang around the tire store. I reason if Bay Staters are allowed to leave off half of their place names (Worcester, e.g.) then I can pronounce the consonants that exist ;).

OK, mods, I promise no more wasted off-topic posts
