put a P in front of lumbago without realizing I had seen the correct word in previous J! clues.
No guess on the shark clue and probably if DD would have said snake

I could've checked the penultimate box, but you had to say "in front of" rather than "to".

I got Trojan Horse from both sides, so no vote.
NHO plumbago before the FJ, total WAG.

Ulysses + Menelaus -> Trojan war -> Trojan horse (barely)
p + lumbago = plumbago as a complete WAG
basking shark, which I had never heard of before it came up on a different trivia program a week or so ago

A rare perfecto to make up for a terrible first week.

Psciatica.

As far as the extra clues: I said Graham Greene (was thinking of The Third Man) and London. Would have guessed "basking python."

Finished an uninspiring 50% for the tournament. Also been a while since I missed a FJ that polled over 90%. Oh well.

Don't know if I'd have guessed shark. Most likely wouldn't have rung in.

I clicked "yes" on the psiataca survey, though I actually said sciatacap after flirting with phump and phunch. Lumbago I knew only as an early misdiagnosis of Lou Gehrig's ALS.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Pscoliosis to have something.
Lost the Chandler/Hammett coin flip.

Got Trojan Horse by focusing more on Ulysses and Menelaus. Until it clicked, I thought “tall as a mountain, ribbed with pine” referred to them.

No clue on basking shark.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

No guess Thursday. Have heard of lumbago, but it never would have come to mind.

Got Trojan Horse from Menelaus.

Got basking shark.

The Trojan Horse wasn’t coming to me on Wednesday; I guessed Mt. Olympus. (P)Lumbago did cross my mind during the think music on Thursday, and I immediately dismissed it as a made-up word. Clammed on the shark.

Felt very silly about missing Trojan Horse; my forehead is still sore from the smack. Total WAG on plumbago and was surprised it was correct.

Interesting that as of this moment, "plumbago" and "Fifty Shades of Gray" are polling exactly the same. Guess our pencils come in only one shade.

The Thin Man series is being featured on TCM on Wednesday. The quality goes down hill after the first two, but since the original shows up about once a year, it might be worth watching for anyone unfamiliar with it. It's also a charming movie with the bonus of one of the better on-screen couples of all time. (And Asta shows up as a clue in his own right with some regularity).
