There seem to be two plausible TD's to fit the varying music you guys are suggesting - feel free to poach these if anyone wants to develop them. You could do 1.) music by the decades (starting with classical and working up to the 2010s) or 2.) music by genre (facts/lyrics about metal, country, rap, big bands, soul, disco, funk, etc.). I'm sure it would appease the tastes of just about everybody. :)

Questions 6-7 going up momentarily!
the week slayer announced they were retiring i started working on Slayer TD, but then scrapped it

10.) Moving Out! (Sort of)

Living with mom and dad for a while is in these days (I too will be following this trend as a commuter student in the fall). But when they move out, where do they go? I grew up in a few small towns, where everyone promptly moved out after graduating high school. This means they go where the opportunity is, particularly the big cities. Given the clue, identify the fictional city in the anagram (from TV, comics, movies, etc.)

Best Known from TV Shows
  • Their 2007 movie was first screened in a Vermont town with the same name: fling spider (Springfield) - The Simpsons
  • Which geological era again?: rob deck (Bedrock) - The Flintstones
  • Ironic considering the vampires; Bill Raftery and his onions need to stay away: Delay nuns (Sunnydale) - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Futuristic space life? Yes, please!: Biotic try (Orbit City) - The Jetsons
  • Craig McCracken’s brainchild: Lint vowels (Townsville) - The Powerpuff Girls
Best Known from Movies
  • 1998 film starring Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon, going back in time: patella snivel (Pleasantville) - Pleasantville
  • Setting of a Lagomorphic “Mystery”: Now Tonto (Toontown) - Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
  • Setting of a 1978 slasher with a holiday for a title: Hidden Adolf (Haddonfield) - Halloween
  • City name clashes with the ruby slippers: meet acridly (Emerald City) - The Wizard of Oz
Comics/Superheroes
  • No joker-ing around in this city: mythic goat (Gotham City) - Batman
  • Includes a phone booth near you: Eliot romps (Metropolis) - Superman
  • Take a pass on visiting here unless Donald puts on some trousers: buck drug (Duckburg) - various Disney works
  • Archie, Jughead and Cole Sprouse play there: arid lever (Riverdale) - Archie comics/Riverdale TV show

We record what I believe to be our fourth sheep of 10+ points so far, and sixth response worth nine or more points.

Given that a reduction of up to twelve points is possible, the top three are still in contention entering the final bonuses. However, it’s likely to be anticlimactic as Bipolar Bear needs two correct responses to clinch the victory while sillymoose and guessonguessonguess need to get everything right and hope Bipolar Bear gets none. Elsewhere, morbeedo jumps into the top ten for the first time while AFRET CMS continues a wild ride up and down (and up and down and up) our standings with another ten position jump forward. 20 points separate P12 from P37 - there is still a lot of jockeying to be done for final position!

I guess at this stage of my life I like my thrills mild. Taking a joy ride on an elevator is plenty exciting enough for me.

BONUS - 2010's Fads

INCLUDE THE CORRESPONDING LETTER and answer as many questions as you can about these trends or fads made popular in the 2010s - silly or not. Seeing as how these are bonus questions, these are supposed to be on the tougher side, but if you’ve been following the news and have a decent memory (or cringe reflex) you should be able to answer a handful of these. Each correct answer will deduct 1 point from your score, and if you manage to answer the whole set, you will receive ten points plus an additional two points for “sweeping the category”, for a maximum loss of twelve points. This can drastically change the final results, so I encourage you to take time and answer as many as you can. There are no penalties for incorrect guesses.

A. ) Afflicted with the disease he wanted to raise money for, former Boston College pitcher Pete Frates is credited as the brainchild of what viral phenomenon? ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (ALS Challenge acceptable)
B.) During his 2015 MVP season, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton popularized which arm gesture, where one drops their head into the crook of their arm? Dabbing
C.) Rob Gronkowski took to TV and social media in late 2017 to discourage kids from eating what household product in a popular social challenge? Tide Pods (Laundry detergent pods acceptable)
D.) Instead of simply asking face to face, high school students (including yours truly back in his junior year) have started asking out prospective prom dates in creative and usually over the top methods, referred to as what portmanteau word? (Promposal/Promposing)
E.) A technology of the future (....I guess…), 2015 saw this popular wheeled toy come under fire … literally. Hoverboards
F.) What Rae Sremmurd song served as the official soundtrack to the viral Mannequin Challenge in late 2016, where people stand still while a moving camera films them? "Black Beatles"
G.) Based off of a novel by Jay Asher, Selena Gomez joined the production staff of this controversial Netflix teen drama/anthology that recently came out with a second season. 13 Reasons Why
H.) Who hit #1 with the viral “Harlem Shake” in 2013? Baauer
I.) Celiac disease can be treated if you abide by what type of popular diet, which notably excludes wheat, barley and rye? Gluten-Free
J.) What slang term, in a social setting, means an invitation to get together and watch a certain streaming platform? Netflix and Chill

ACCEPTED AND DENIED
* ALS Challenge on its own is acceptable as I didn't pin the question well enough and found evidence of a pepper challenge and basketball tournament; the latter mentioned Frates. Simply responding ALS, however, was not good enough.
* Laundry pods was acceptable for C - I was looking for Tide Pods, but found no reason to deny laundry pods as an acceptable answer.
* I accepted hovercrafts for E.

*"Black Beatle" for F was not accepted; the accurate title is "Black Beatles" (pluralized; please note that I adhered by Jeopardy! song title rules, so if anyone had put "Black Beatles in the City", that would have been accepted)
* Simply responding "Gluten" was not enough for I, as I was looking for "This type of diet" - a gluten diet is not an acceptable answer
* "Dap" was not acceptable for B - dap is a slang term for a fist bump, not the gesture in question
* "The Reasons Why" for G was not accepted; not the correct title

Congrats to mennoknight and CellBlock for being the only ones to pick up the full dozen point bonus. Honorable mention to Mastercone, one letter away from the dozen (responding "Black Beatle")

And the winner of TD 384 is....

1. Bipolar Bear - 22

Bipolar Bear was most impressive, only racking up one response garnering five points or more all week, while leading wire-to-wire. Congratulations on a great game!

It was a pleasure to put this together and the reveal was a lot of fun. I hope to see you all back here for a future TD! (A millennial revenge, maybe? ;) ) Get your submissions in for TD 385 and 386 when that drops tomorrow and, most importantly, THANK YOU ALL FOR PLAYING!

Oh, Tide pods...the latest sign that humanity is doomed. Between that, the Harlem Shake, and pretty much that entire lyrics question, you managed an impressive collection of cultural lowlights from the last few years

Wasn't craving any Tide Pods until squarekara posted the video. Curses!! Morbeedo, I can't believe The Philippines sheeped either, especially as he isn't talked about much in the news that I see. It's easier to see how someone like Ardern would be popular because she was in the news these last two weeks.

I would just like to state for the record that I agree our world is (probably) going to hell and the lyrics category and commercialization is a microcosm of this - particularly in Top 40 music and especially in country music, but that's a story for another time. It should also be noted that pop (especially right now, June 2018) is not my first choice of music. I grew up on 90s/00s country music, notably Strait, Toby, Alan Jackson, B+D, etc. While I do still like lots of music put out by newer acts, Kanye West and many others are simply unappealing or cringeworthy in comparison.

Thanks again to all of you for your kind comments and I'm glad you all had fun with this. As I've already stated, this was my first time question writing/TD hosting, so naturally I'm pleased that everything turned out alright for the most part. Seeing as how this is aimed at a diverse group of trivia abilities, the goal was to make things hard and challenging, but fair at the same time. Seems that was a success!

This. Country music now needs an asterisk or quotes. That ain't country.

Thanks for the fun TD!

Thanks! You made this geezer friendly and fun and enlightening! And, we didn't have to actually listen to any of the music! BUT- I'd rather hear it than the dinosaur rock from the boomers. Enough, already!

And far too often, ain't music either.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

He made big headlines for his talk about executing drug offenders.
Well, I was thinking people would know Duterte but would avoid him and go with someone they think is less known, like Suu Kyi - you know, that whole Think Different mental gymnastics. I guess I expected a more even distribution for that question. I flirted with Suu Kyi (as an answer) but went with Trump expecting 2 or 3 at most. Wrong choice!

I just need to go with the most obvious answer, like my JBoard handle says to avoid these leveling games.

Thanks for hosting. Enjoyed this one.

But man...went from top 10 to a bunch of sheep in a row and a bottom-third finish. This game is brutal.

Thanks for hosting this one. I continued my recent trend of doing poorly on these, but I had fun!
