I will say that I truly appreciated the supportive comments I received from Kara and others on this board who have been in my situation and realize that, as prepared as you might think you are, it is difficult not to second guess yourself in the moment. I took their comments as sincere and did not find them insulting in the least. While I am a serious adult, I still appreciate kindness.

My original post was simply intended to explain my thought process for those who were curious. You can agree or disagree with it as you see fit and perhaps you would have taken a different route. To be honest, I'm fairly certain that, even if I had studied every possible wagering scenario and strategy, I would not have been able to recall them in the moment or would have doubted that the "correct" decision was the one I could live with. Honestly, I was just happy that I stayed upright.

I hope everyone on this board who is in the Jeopardy pool or would like to be has a chance to test their own wagering strategies. It was a wonderful experience, regardless of the outcome.
Chiming in late here to echo the comments that your play was very much appreciated in a well matched game, and it's nice to hear that you had such a wonderful experience. It's a shame (and embarrassing) you didn't have the same experience here - the internet can be a crazy place.

It's mostly safe to swim here. There's only a couple of guys who pee in the pool.

Really appreciate your checking in here and giving us an inside scoop. I think you reasoned well in the midst of many distractions and came to a good wager. You'd have won by $1 on a triple miss (or a sole get) which helps confirm that you psyched things out correctly.

This was exactly my feeling after my experience!

Tracey, thank you for rejoining the discussion despite the *ahem* unpleasantness. Every individual within the community is entitled to voice his opinion, but rather than let a certain viewpoint and attitude prevail, some of us became uncharacteristically contentious. Sorry to have marred your day in any way.

There are dozens of people who work very hard to try to ensure a welcoming experience for everyone, especially contestants, in this community.

Your posts are constantly at odds with that goal. When contestants are literally posting things questioning why they started a discussion after what frankly was the best post explaining contestant strategy on this board in weeks, it harms the community as a whole as future contestants see this and it makes them less than willing to do the same.

And that makes the community much worse off for it.
Darn it, Andy, there's still no "thumbs up icon" or "like button." So please consider this a second for your statement.

There have been many times that Mr. IronNeck's posts have been objective, interesting, and have added to the the discussion. Unfortunately, for some reason he too often veers off into what I perceive to be unnecessary nastiness and browbeating -- especially coming from someone who has never shown he has failed while daring greatly or has even been in the arena. Since Mr. IronNeck has still chosen to hide behind anonymity for his trolling instead of going on record, I think I may just gloss over posts with his name on them and not reply. I can't control what he does - but I can control how I respond.

... and I use the term "trolling" deliberately, especially with regard to the clip he linked. If IronNeck HAD ever been at a contestant's briefing, he would know that contestants are specifically instructed NOT to shake hands with each other after a match -- they've had awkward stumbles and even ankle injuries when contestants move toward each other, stepping off the raised platform they forget they're on. In the posted clip, you can see the contestant to Kara's left have the impulse to take a step, remember the instruction, look down, and think better of it. Deliberately misinterpreting an issue in order to try to indicate something negative about someone is the very definition of trolling, and there's no place for it on JBoard.

Oh, I almost forgot to bite on the Twitter link posted above!

Guys, I cannot stress this enough: Safety First in the studio. A home viewer points out, via Twitter, the awkwardness of my trying to pull a "curtain call" move at the show's conclusion. I reached out for a group hug from the middle position, started tottering, and realized too late that all three of us were perched on individual risers of varying height. Never mind the awkwardness, I'm glad I didn't break all our necks! Afterward, we shared a group hug on solid ground.

Where is the group hug button when you need it?
