COLONIAL INDIA

2: British India legally codified this historic system of segregating Indians into different social levels, some of which were deemed criminal.

4: In 1930, Gandhi led a march protesting British laws restricting the production and sale of this commodity.

6: This Indian city that had a prison dubbed its "Black Hole" was the capital of British India until New Delhi replaced it in 1911.

8: The British Raj succeeded this empire founded by Babur that ruled India until 1857.

10: In 1913, this author of Gitanjali and supporter of Indian independence was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
