2: Although this Dubliner, born in 1847, never set foot in Romania, it's the setting of his most famous novel.

4: This 1996 memoir by Frank McCourt details the author's upbringing in Limerick.

6: Iris Murdoch's The Sea, The Sea"was the first novel by an Irish-born woman to win this International literary prize.

8: Held annually in Dublin, this June 16th holiday celebrates the hero of James Joyce's Ulysses.

10: This funny three word phrase follows "Paddy Clarke" in the title of a Roddy Doyle novel.

HEBREW

3: This Germanic language spoken by Ashkenazi Jews is written using the Hebrew alphabet.

6: In Hebrew, these sounds are represented by niqqud, or diacritical dots or lines, that are often omitted in writing.

9: The Hebrew alphabet has this many letters, two fewer than the Greek alphabet.

12: The Hebrew alphabet descends from this oldest alphabet that is also an ancestor of our alphabet.

15: When writing numbers using Hebrew letters, Jews write 15 as 9 + 6 (tet + vav) and not 10 + 5 (yod + he) for this reason.
