Alex got in some razor work after the Monday game:
Spoiler
Image
Emily over-complicated DD3 and it cost her the match. Another possible path she had to victory was NEON $2000 being the unplayed clue where Kyle got $2000 and instead playing $2000 in ‘90s SONGS where she had the $1200 & $1600 clues right.

The FJ! clue was one of those solves for me longer than an instaget and quicker than five seconds. Once I made the transition from literature to spotting the silliness of it to picture a cartoon then it was a lock. Unlike the gentlemen I matched the proper spelling Emily gave.

A punched ticket to the ToC for Kyle and a move up the Tracker. There is nothing flashy about his game as he calmly takes care of business.

I think I like the goatee best.

NHO Woodsy Owl, my only miss in the Mascots category.

I thought Tomb Raider for $400 was very tough.

I also could've taken 10 guesses and not gotten "natural neon = red".

Also NHO House of Pain/"Jump Around".

Lach Trash: Milton Hershey

I either overthought or underthought this clue. The clue seemed a total word salad at first, with "Dehydrated boulders" almost leading me to a joke response of "Who is Undyne?" Then I saw birdseed and latched onto the Road Runner. Oh wait, not a predator... uh... duh, Wile E. Coyote! There we go.

They might as well have put a picture of an ACME catalog on the screen.

Also, J! writers, Robert Jordan's The Wheel of ____ for 1600? Um, no.

"Unbelievable" was the first song played on the season finale of Beat Shazam a few moments ago.

ETA: Now "Slide" by the Goo Goo Dolls came up in the final round. These writers must be psychics.

Kyle is an alarmingly consistent player and his run has been enjoyable to watch, congrats on magic number 5! I like this stat a lot when we consider his worth in the next ToC: Kyle has led entering Final in all five of his games so far. Only a handful of the 5-timers from last year's ToC had that record if memory serves (Pranjal and then Andrew and Austin, excluding the games they lost?). With a 4-for-5 solve rate in Final as well, he could be a tough out in tournament play. I hope he keeps it up!

Bravo on Emily for her FJ wager. Kyle is fortunate she wasn't standing in Shawn Moore's place on game 2 last Thursday.

These boards seemed quite easy to me. FJ took me longer than I’d care to admit, but WECIB? Like Mark Barrett, I had to shift mental gears from literature to cartoons before it came to me.

Well, I might as well provide some comic relief. My FJ answer was the Roc. Oops.

Prediction: Trebek's beard will be gone by Friday. Thursday will be just the mustache. Friday will be clean-shaven. The only wild card is Wednesday. Mustache and soul patch? Or just a much more trimmed goatee?

Got FJ before Alex stopped reading. Spelled it correctly.

When I started this post, I had three things to say. I guess this is the third one.

Absolutely. Nice wager.

Raymond on the other hand chose to forfeit any chance of winning.

$36,000 coryat.

IMO answering "Wiley Coyote" is a much greater affront than "Guillotine."

The beard has fallen in style from distinguishedly professorial to enervatingly hipsterish.
I would prefer not to.

Instaget Final, spelled correctly. Even had time to write "Super Genius".

Wondering now if the writers would have accepted "Mud" (but remember, "Mud" spelled backwards is "Dum")

BTW, for those calling Alex's current beard a goatee: it's not. It's a van Dyke. If he gets rid of the mustache and soul patch regions, then it will be a goatee.

WECIB?! I'll tell you. For some stupid reason I stared at that thing and thought of the Roadrunner for about 15 seconds. Kept thinking, "that doesn't seem quite right." but couldn't figure why. Finally it dawned on me. Oh. The Predator. Got "Wile E. Coyote" with time to spare, but jeesh, what a stupid rabbit hole to go down. I think my brain is slipping.

LT: (Milton) Hershey, chess, Thebes, Volstead Act

Loved Kyle's story. Me? I've always tried to avoid lyin 'cheetahs.

Yeah, Kyle is doing quite well, and congrats now that he has pretty much sewn up a spot in the ToC already. I just can't shake the thought of how lucky he is that his Game 2 opponent handed him his second win with that awful FJ bet. I know you don't win 5 games by being lucky, but he is really lucky he got the chance to win 5 games.

What also appears to be serving him well is his timing -- it's a regular thing for him to be first to the buzzer while his competitors are pounding their buttons. Most players know most answers, so it's usually a race to ring in without being too early.

Andy's stats have Kyle at almost 40% first in, so competitors have to split the other 60%. Not only does that give him more regular clues, it gives him an advantage in DD hunting. Kyle's timing is razor-sharp.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Does that mean it also speaks in a horrible Cockney accent?
