Re: Thursday, September 20, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Amanda had control after getting TOYS & GAMES $800 and switched to the FOOTBALL category. DD1 was at TOYS & GAMES $1000 which Kyle found a clue later. There is no way of knowing, although if Amanda completed the TOYS category it could have paid off by the end with the triple miss FJ! clue. Amanda’s 5w did not help her cause to stay in range either.
For the FJ! clue my first thought was Pied Piper when seeing “rat” while in singular let me know to keep thinking. Dragon was enough for me to think of Chinese zodiac in connection with rat for the year of animals.
Great. Now what? From Marco Polo to Khans to Lao Tzu I liked none of my options. To have a guess on paper I matched Amanda even though I was not optimistic as I was not feeling him for being right. The correct guy was not going to happen as I did not have him on my radar at all.
Kyle is #5 on the tracker with the two other 7x champs (Josh & Ryan) having wallets a little fatter. The J! sites keeps the College & Teachers champs on top even with their winnings capped exactly at six figures.
Kyle of course would not know he was going to play 8 games over 2 taping days. His outfits have been:
(first taping day)
Vest 1 & Shirt 1
Shirt 2
Sweater 1 & Shirt 3
(2nd taping day)
Shirt 4
Shirt 1
Shirt 2
Jacket 1 & Shirt 4
***
Neckties = 0

Did Bucky have a flight to catch?
Funny as hell when Bucky took off after Kyle won and Alex was making his way over for the handshakes. Kyle and Amanda were laughing along with viewers. Bucky hustled back to be in place for the proper closing.

New prediction: The full beard will be back tomorrow.
Re: Thursday, September 20, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I thought "Dune" was by far the easiest in the Literature category. NHO that guy in the top box.
I didn't see any TOMs for Macbeth in Literature for $400 either.
I didn't know there actually WAS a game called "Barrel of Monkeys", so the "more fun than" TOM flew right over my head and left me 4/5 in that category.
Ran "T" Leaves, but skunked 8 Letter Words.
Didn't recognize anything in that Actors category except Katniss Everdeen, but couldn't pull Jennifer McBlandface's name.
Also NHO any of those islands.
FJ! made no sense to me. I had no idea what to even WAG.

Knowing that, I also guessed Confucius.

"12? Rat and dragon? Sounds like the Chinese zodiac. Um...Confucius? No that doesn't make sense...was it a Buddhist thing? Eh, sure, Buddha." Whatever works.

Ok, how does anyone make the jump from Chinese zodiac to Buddha? I guessed Lao Tzu, figuring Confucius was later.

I figured it was Lao Tzu, Confucius, or Buddha... and I went with Confucius.
Surprised Ned Kelly was a triple stumper.

That reminded me of a 1999 incident on Late Night with David Letterman, when Jeff Beck walked off the stage before the cameras cut away for a commercial.MarkBarrett wrote: Did Bucky have a flight to catch?

Video embedding snafu. I tried to link it to start at the 4:40 mark. That's when the funny happens.

Re: Thursday, September 20, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I got the China connection (although that took me a few seconds), but didn't know where to go from there. I didn't think it would be Confucius (he doesn't strike me to have that sort of myth told about him, and the same with Lao Tzu), and I eventually settled on the Jade Emperor. I thought that might be too hard, but couldn't think of anything better. I don't think I would have thought to connect the Chinese zodiac with Buddha.
(A google search suggests that this might be a plausible correct answer. I see a few links to myths about the Jade Emperor gathering the animals for the zodiac, so maybe this might be acceptable?)
Edit to add:
This site says that there are similar stories with the Jade Emperor and the Buddha calling the animals for the zodiac.

Re: Thursday, September 20, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
38 right.
Space Probes (3), Pro Football HOFs by Team (5), Toys & Games (5), How Cheap Were They? (2), Reading (4), The T Leaves (3)
Acting the Part (2), Islands in the Sea (1), 8-Letter Words (1), Orange You Glad (4), Australian Histoy (3), Only at the Met (5)
Lach Trash: wine, Zoe Saldana, Ned Kelly
My first thought with animals was Noah, but I considered Confucius once I realized it was referring to the Chinese zodiac. When I discarded that, I had only a last-second guess of "zodiac".

Same thought process here.
And of course the astronomy category was left for the end. AGAIN! *grumble grumble $1800 left on the board...*
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

When the Australia category came up, I said "The $2,000 clue will be Ned Kelly."
I got as far (and as close) as Confucius.

Yeah, yet another led from the Chinese zodiac to Confucius. The Buddha never occurred to me.
