29,800 coryat.

Calvin = Switzerland + lakeside city = Geneva.

Big ups to Doug for the TDD in the J! round. Every other contestant should do it too, but too few do.

Well, they do specifically tell you not to do that. I was surprised they left the Brady Bunch in.

Ditto! So far, all were at a low level of confidence for me, but I'll take it!!

Instaget FJ. I have no idea why. I don't know much about the Reformation, but somehow (perhaps from all of the clues Mark posted?), the Geneva connection stuck.
I know why it was an Instaget FJ for me. Graduate studies in History of Christianity. Even though that was back near the time referenced in this clue, it still stuck I'll take it.

LT totaling $6,800, which turns out to be better than the scores of either Maggie or Susan going into FJ. I know Doug beat them to the buzzer something awful, but they sure left a bunch of money on the board.

FWIW I wonder if Susan realizes that when a jaguar "licks" you that's not to be mistaken for affection like your house cat. It's tasting you.

Meanwhile Doug qualifies for the Hall of Fame with over $50K. And just like the guy last week, he never would have come within sniffing distance of that money if not for the gift of the second game by his opponent. Someone here once said "Jeopardy is two parts luck and one part luck." Sometimes it sure seems that is an uncomfortably big part.

I was more familiar with the term "dan" from go, figured they used it in karate as well. :geek:
Geneva shows up in Civilization V as a city state that grants religion bonuses for allying with them. :ugeek:

That's how I got to it; well, that, and it's unforgettable for me given that's my first name...
