And, once again, Rundle in the Jundle looks to be a mine field: 9 A Rundlers, 3 B Rundlers, 1 C and 1 D. Good luck to all and may the best JBoardie win!

I just looked at the rundle and realized, to my growing horror, that I was the only D Rundler among so many As and Bs (I missed the C Rundler but saw that just now). Well, this will be ... fun? (It will. But at what cost? :P)

It's just for fun, Brandon. I routinely get my a$$ handed to me in the private Rundle, but it's still fun to cross swords with so many boardies.

Excited for the new LL season and a renewed commitment to all things trivial, including Jeopardy!, which I’ve avoided since the start of the current season. Good luck to my new referrals!

Thanks to cmp146 for updating the list! I like the way you list ronins in both places.

After taking off LL78 for various and sundry reasons, I'm glad to be back in LL79. I'm also curious to see how I enjoy a private rundle that's a bit more my speed (one A, one B, the rest C and below). I'm sort of a ronin in that, too (everyone else in the rundle shares a particular university affiliation and I volunteered to make an even number).

You are welcome. I have become far more efficient at the list generation. My preseason Friday morning slacking is down to 15 minutes. I hope your new private rundle suits you better!

My private rundle in the jungle strategy is to play my best defense and not really pay attention to anything else. Except for beating Boson at all costs. :-)

I have you added now. There is another poster with Iron4Horse as their name who I have an ID for in my list. If you are the same guy, please let me know (PM is fine).

Best of luck, everyone!

By the way, my new hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan, is the headquarters city of LLamasoft (yes, two capital L's), a supply chain management company. And the Blue Llama Jazz Club will open downtown in the near future.

Match day 1 is live!

Just as a reminder to everyone, and especially our rookies - do NOT discuss a match day while it is live. No matter how obliquely. It can wait until tomorrow.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

This is my 13th LL season...but for the first time ever, I sit at the top of a rundle after a 6(4)-1(1) opening day win for LL79. I know it won't last...but seeing my name at the top of the list...and seeing my flag represented on the main page for rundle leaders after the first day...feels great. Thorsten threw us a bunch of softballs on Day 1...I know the rest of the days won't be like that.

My previous high ranking was a #2 position for most of the last half of the LL74 season, which led to my one and only season in the D rundles.

Same for me, I think (only more seasons), but I even went from last place to first place in one day! I don't know if I can sustain this momentum.

I would not call it a day of softballs because clearly they were not for all. I was more or less sure of five, but Dunbar I guessed mainly as a poet of the past who does not seem to be mentioned when the Harlem Renaissance comes up, so maybe he died in 1906. All I actually knew of his oeuvre was seven words from one particular poem.

In a playlet I wrote for a local bar's theatre group a few years ago, I referred for some reason to the bronze and iron ages, and I remembered having to change the order from what I'd originally written.

Back when I lived on the grid, the Nickelodeon network had a little ad for Dick van Dyke (on its schedule at the time), where they showed a montage of the opening from the various seasons, to the accompaniment of the show's theme with their own lyrics, of which I remember "and then another season he sidesteps the ottoman but ironically he trips over the rug." I knew it'd be useful someday.

Btw, I'm not usually so loquacious. I'm just feeling good right now.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Just to explain myself because I beat Boson with a 9% get: my mom taught at Dunbar HS in Baltimore (the one most famous for basketball with a long list of alums including Mugsy Bogues and Sam Cassell) so while I didn’t know the titles of the works I could zero in on him as an African-American poet of that era who died young.
