Another correct response blown by being a little off. Today it was Nash not quite being right. This one did not serve up a rebound though.
In the J! round THE BIG BATTALIONS had a DD hidden with the $200 and $800 clues remaining. Nicole had control and picked the $200 clue. Francesco got it to leave him with the DD. A gift for him? No, a curse as he lost all of his 2400 on it. Nice break for Nicole.
Nicole caught another break when the round timed out just as she took the lead with the $1200 clue on clue 28. The $400 & $800 clues not seen probably would not have changed the scenario for the FJ! round although it always would be nice to know.
Fleeboy should notch his $3000 for the WEST VIRGINIA category since I did.
The J! round had me with a typical 2/5 poor showing in WORD ORIGINS. Was I done with that kind of stuff I'm not good at solving?
No, I missed the FJ! clue as well when I matched John's guess. I was in the right area of the OT while I took too much time dismissing SoS, writing and checking my spelling for what I wrote and then pondering Proverbs. My bad and a much easier miss to get over at home than the lifelong haunter it would have been on stage.
Nice by Nicole to eke out the win and keep the 2 right by the players going.

Had Francesco figured out the signalling device, he definitely had the knowledge for a deep run. Alas, sub-25% in first is not going to get you many places.

Some have been playing the look-alike game with Francesco. My take was different as his first name reminded me of the Francesco Rinaldi ads.

Any reason I should know what kind of lettuce is used in a Caesar salad? There are lots and lots and lots of types of lettuce, and none seems more obvious than the other.
NHO garbanzo beans, swiss chard, bearnaise sauce, or tarragon either. HOW do you know all this ultra-fancy food?!
Word Origins felt very YEKIOYD. I could've taken 100 guesses and not gotten "Buffoon".
However, I ran West Virginia.
NHO the words at $800 and $1,200 in De-Cap-Itate. Capon? Caprice?
Old Testament. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deutoronomy, blah blah blah Psalms, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, the minor prophets I can't remember the names of, Joshua Judges Ruth, Esther, etc. etc. etc.... I got nothing.

I’d be willing to bet that canned garbanzo or chickpeas are sold in every supermarket in the U.S., and Swiss Chard in most of them.

25 second solve for FJ. I was able to quickly eliminate the first five books, all of the ones named after people, and ones like Jugdes/Kings/Chronicles, and ended up with a Psalms/Ecclesiastes coin flip that landed right.
The 1-day champ carousel is starting to spin...

Psalms seemed to fit the bill, but I wasn't understanding how such a short word could mean a five word phrase. But I had nothing else, so I stayed with it.

I've heard of chickpeas, but never knew that they had another name.

What the hell is "CFK"? Google is of no help. Also what have I said about quoting my entire post when you're responding to only one line and machine-gun posting? Cut and paste are your friends.

Another Ecclesiastes here. Never would have come up with Psalms.
