Thank you for bumping up the poll choices to 12 from 10. That was a nice surprise.

Ronald McDonald...grrr. 7/8 is my best week in recent memory, though, so that's a plus.

(For the record, I got spoiled multiple times before I saw FJ on Monday, so thus I didn't have a response...I wasn't able to catch any of the games this week due to work and other things...but I know I wouldn't have been able to get it in time. There was just a severe shortage of TOMs in that clue...)

I was thinking Treasure Island, but was thrown by "children's book" - I have not actually read it and didn't realize it was a children's book. George Washington wasn't quite an instaget, but the rest were. I love kids' week...

Whiffed on Monday. All the rest were cake. Well, Monday was cake, too. I just didn't come up with it.

Well, it is our board nowadays so we can do as we please.

Venezuela should arguably be considered a correct response to the first extra clue.

Mr Green up and down.
All were insta-gets except Friday, which was an insta-know-who-they're-talking-about-I-can-picture-him-but-what-was-his-name, but I spelunked it in time.

So endeth my hopes of an 8/8 during a gimmie week. :( On that clue I was embarrassed to answer "Oh! Uhh, Long John Silver! Wait, that's the - damn." Was hoping to have that as a secret shame, but wouldn't you know it. Thanks a *lot*, Mark!

Arguably, yes, but you'd have to do a lot of work to convince me. Venezuela is more a country that is currently run by a communist than a communist country. In Cuba, China, the former USSR and the like, it would take a constitutional overhaul at the very least to have a non-Communist run the country, as it is part of the national fabric. Venezuela could, theoretically, elect a democratic president tomorrow. (Feel free to correct me if I"m wrong). After all, Manitoba isn't a "socialist province" despite the fact that a socialist party is currently in charge.

I had the Jolly Green Giant on Monday.

I cannot believe everyone is either 5/5 or went 4/5 by missing the exact same FJ. I thought some would miss Phelps just by not being able to remember his name.

I guess there is no way to set up the poills so we get a true percentage for each question?

I found where in the code that should allow me to do that, but I don't know coding well enough to do it. I posted the code in last week's poll and asked for help. No one was stepped forward yet.

Same here!

BTW, lesson learned: When quoting a passage that starts with an emoticon, insert a space before the first colon for proper display.

I started Monday with the Jolly Green Giant, and then when Ronald McDonald came to mind, I hastily scribbled it as a replacement as the think music wound down. (phew!)

BTW, I notice that the recaps and polls are much more subdued without Ten Pound Hammer to stir things up. I almost miss him.

Hi,

Jolly Green Giant for me, too. Neither Reagan nor that other clown I always confused him with came to mind.
