Because they ask about these things...

A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez) and Jenny from the Block (Jennifer Lopez) are engaged (Clue chance: guaranteed)

Chance the Rapper married Kirsten Corley (Clue chance: very low, probably will just for Chance)

Six-time All-Star outfielder Bryce Harper will sign with the Philadelphia Phillies in a $330 million deal, the most lucrative contract in MLB history. (Manny Machado, who signed with the San Diego Padres a couple of weeks ago, will earn more per season of his deal, though.)
Well that didn't last

ESPN’s Jeff Passan is reporting that the Los Angeles Angels and Mike Trout are finalizing a contract extension worth $430 million over 12 years. This deal would become the richest in American pro sports history.

Karen Uhlenbeck from the University of Texas at Austin has been awarded the 2019 Abel Prize—regarded as one of the highest accolades in mathematics. She is now the first woman to receive the illustrious award.

“Her theories have revolutionized our understanding of minimal surfaces, such as those formed by soap bubbles, and more general minimization problems in higher dimensions,”
"Soap bubble" will probably be the Pavlov here.

I wanted to say something along the lines of, “...until Mike Trout is up for a new contract,” at the end of that post. The Angels must not have wanted to wait that long.

Retired racing pigeon sells for over $1 million. Best to just read the whole thing in full, I feel bad quoting the whole article but it's just all pure gold.
Auction house Pipa called Armando the "best Belgian long-distance pigeon of all time". He's also been dubbed the "Lewis Hamilton of pigeons".
...
Mr Gyselbrecht said that two buyers from China ended up in a bidding war, escalating from €532,000 up to €1.25m in just over an hour.

It would be nice to have all those recent country and capital name changes in one place. I'm losing track of them (though admittedly most of them don't come into the Jeopardy canon).

Million Dollar Mile https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Million_Dollar_Mile will be hosted by Tim Tebow.

Just in case there are any fans of Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge, one of the defenders will be Hunter McIntyre, "The Sheriff."

Most of them don't come into the J! canon, but one of them recently came into the LL canon. :)
