Re: 2019 Current Events Study Guide
Can we question the likelihood of a particular current event making it into a clue? Because I'm not sure the latest Newbery Medal winner will be on the show as such; The Tale of Despereaux, for example, was made into a movie before J! saw fit to mention it. (Caldecott winners are even less likely.)

I'd say that's just barely clearing the line, though more likely they'd ask for the award and not the book.seaborgium wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 8:18 pm Can we question the likelihood of a particular current event making it into a clue? Let's add this one too, since Fire and Fury got some play time, and I'm pretty sure the others have too.

May be more helpful to remember that the Newbery is for children's literature while the Caldecott is for the most distinguished picture book.seaborgium wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 8:18 pm Can we question the likelihood of a particular current event making it into a clue? Amazingly, the 13-3 score represents the largest winning margin in any of the Patriots' Super Bowl wins (their previous high was 6 points).Volante wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 10:37 pm NFL wrapup:

The combined 16 points scored is the lowest total in Super Bowl history; only one play started within either team’s red zone for the entire game.teapot37 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 7:20 amAmazingly, the 13-3 score represents the largest winning margin in any of the Patriots' Super Bowl wins (their previous high was 6 points).Volante wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 10:37 pm NFL wrapup:

And yet, an offensive player won the MVP. Julian Edelman had 10 catches for 140 yards for the Patriots. But shouldn't someone on the defence that stopped the rams from doing anything have won?

Edelmen is the first Jewish Super Bowl MVP, in case that comes up.
Very vaguely related, tonight Energy Secretary Rick Perry becomes the first "designated survivor" for the State of the Union address to have previously been a participant on Dancing with the Stars.

Baseball Hall-of-Famer Frank Robinson has died at 83.
Robinson became the first African-American manager in Major League Baseball in 1975 with the Cleveland Indians, while he was still an active player. He is the only person (to date) to win the Most Valuable Player Award in both the National and American Leagues.
