Can we question the likelihood of a particular current event making it into a clue? Because I'm not sure the latest Newbery Medal winner will be on the show as such; The Tale of Despereaux, for example, was made into a movie before J! saw fit to mention it. (Caldecott winners are even less likely.)

I'd say that's just barely clearing the line, though more likely they'd ask for the award and not the book.

Stacey Abrams, who lost the Georgia governor race to Brian Kemp, will deliver the State of the Union rebuttal.

The SotU itself was pushed back to Feb 5. (Check your DVRs in a week)

Let's add this one too, since Fire and Fury got some play time, and I'm pretty sure the others have too.

Team of Vipers, another Trump Administration tell all, by former communications aide Cliff Sims

May be more helpful to remember that the Newbery is for children's literature while the Caldecott is for the most distinguished picture book.

There aren't just Neanderthals anymore, there are also Denisovans.

Denisovans are reported to have interbred with both Neanderthals as well as modern homo sapiens, but also Denisovan+Neanderthal progeny are also reported to have bred with modern humans: https://gizmodo.com/ai-finds-traces-of- ... 1831875647

They could make a whole category out of these...and it could legit have a general knowledge theme...

Let Me Finish, Former NJ governor and Trump transition team head Chris Christie

Lindsey Vonn, 82 time World Cup winner, 3 time Olympic medalist, 7 time World Championship medalist in downhill skiing (and yet I feel I also have to add one time Tiger Woods girlfriend) is retiring

“My body is broken beyond repair and it isn’t letting me have the final season I dreamed of,” she wrote today.

25 years ago you’d have been correct.

NFL wrapup:

NE Patriots win 6th Super Bowl over the Whatever Rams; tie Pittsburgh Steelers for most franchise wins.
Tom Brady gets 6th SB ring, most wins by any single player (no longer tied with Charles Haley)

Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs, won NFL MVP.

Amazingly, the 13-3 score represents the largest winning margin in any of the Patriots' Super Bowl wins (their previous high was 6 points).
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

The combined 16 points scored is the lowest total in Super Bowl history; only one play started within either team’s red zone for the entire game.

In a game that will be remembered for punting, the two punters were former collegiate teammates at Oregon State.

And yet, an offensive player won the MVP. Julian Edelman had 10 catches for 140 yards for the Patriots. But shouldn't someone on the defence that stopped the rams from doing anything have won?

Edelmen is the first Jewish Super Bowl MVP, in case that comes up.

Very vaguely related, tonight Energy Secretary Rick Perry becomes the first "designated survivor" for the State of the Union address to have previously been a participant on Dancing with the Stars.

Baseball Hall-of-Famer Frank Robinson has died at 83.

Robinson became the first African-American manager in Major League Baseball in 1975 with the Cleveland Indians, while he was still an active player. He is the only person (to date) to win the Most Valuable Player Award in both the National and American Leagues.

Bob Einstein, brother to Albert "Scorpio" Brooks (who's birth name is Einstein) and creator/actor of Super Dave Osborne, has died.

https://news.avclub.com/r-i-p-bob-einst ... 1831438967
And now Albert "Scorpio" Brooks, nee Einstein (Yes, I used it twice. I don't care.) has died.

Wrong Albert.
