I knew about one transitioning, not the other. In hindsight, I should have gone with The Matrix anyways, seeing as I can't name very many other female directors not named Ava DuVernay, or Katheryn Bigelow.Bamaman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 3:44 pmI don’t follow Hollywood much but this seems like something I would have heard about, given the success of the series and the fact two siblings both made the switch. I knew something was up when just the first names were given, but the last names don’t do anything for me, either. A quick scan of their Wikipedia page suggests they are both very private people.boson wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 9:40 am I missed the gender transitions of the Wachowski Sisters ... I couldn't come up with anything reasonable as a guess and said 'Saw'.
I think it is great that Thorsten didn't clue about the transition at all - just a straightforward knowledge of their current names and 'film trilogy'. However, I thought it made it a hard question. The get rate tells me I'm wrong... Am I just clueless and did the transition get more coverage that I missed?

What took you so long? I clinched non-relegation right before MD1 this season by being in E.Linear Gnome wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 10:05 am I think this is one of the earlier times I've clinched non-relegation (as long as I don't forfeit). I'm currently sitting in the lowest spot in the promotion zone from C to B. I had been thinking of making this my last season in LL; I'm not sure if a promotion after a ridiculous number of seasons in C will change my mind.
The "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in" meme might be operative here.

Thanks to the emailed results I am relieved to see that accidentally typing The Goodmans instead of The Conners did not cost me a win!

According to my email, my RTFQ moment of replying "Frankfurt" led to my 1-point loss.

Took me a while to get to "______ night massacre" as I had it in the back of my head as Watergate related of course, but didn't quite pull it for a while. Once I did pull it, I couldn't remember what day of the week it actually was. Would this happen on a weekend? Maybe it's Friday? Ultimately, I literally used a pencil and paper and wrote down a calendar to figure out what day of the week it was, knowing I was born on a Saturday.

and just as I was posting that...Working feverishy to get the LL site back up and running. Will likely extend the MD24 due time since we've lost a big chunk of the Match Day here. Will update ASAP...
We're back up and running!

I know my Food & Drink score is horrible...but Vienna sausages aren't exactly 3 points obscure...
I'll take the tie though. Point differential pretty much guarantees I won't get into A tho.

The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

While Vienna sausages are what I thought of that got me the answer, in hindsight I believe he was simply making wieners.
Yesterday's question set was one of the hardest of the season, in my opinion, though luckily I didn't do worse than a 3(3)-3(3) tie.

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague
I guessed correctly on 2 yesterday but wasn't 100% sure of anything. I managed a rare 4(2)-4(4) tie and got myself onto the Sandra leaderboard for the entire league! Will I stay there the rest of the season???
Hoping for a third lap

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague
There are only 4 people in the entire league who have more ties than I do this season. My previous season high was 6 and I am at 10 with two days to go.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

It looks like I'm going to barely avoid relegation to E this time. It may not matter, though, because I'm not sure I can justify $30 toward renewing after this season. Things are very tight and we're preparing for a cross country move.

The Commissioner has just posted an announcement on LL that today's deadline has indeed been extended 24 hours to tomorrow, with Thursday becoming the last match day of the season.

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague
I started MD23 tied for 3rd place in DMag2, although I was in 4th by MPD. However, if I went 3-0 to end the season I would guarantee promotion as I play the person who is in 2nd on the last day. However, all that is out the window as I lost 1(2)-5(4), to drop into 8th. I'm still only 2 points out of promotion as positions 2-9 are separated by 4 points total. Money crossed my mind for seigniorage, but I couldn't see how a govt could make money on currency (and I still don't get it after looking it up after the fact) and said weapons. I've heard of Vienna sausage but have never had them and was never getting there; looking at the pictures I see the frankfurter connection for sure. We have a water softener so salt/sodium was a layup.

An old woman in Yemen was suspected of raising dogs to support the rebellion, the President had her home investigated, and she was cleared. The story's headline read HUBBARD BASE: NO BONES--ABDRABBUH.

As of today you're in fourth place and playing the guy in fifth on this, possibly the longest match day in LL history. Good luck!fowlerism wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 11:25 am Thanks to studying pop music and geography I'm having the best season of my life, with the highest TCA in my rundle by four points. Unfortunately, I'm also having atrocious luck, with the highest CAA in my rundle by two points. The result? I'm in 6th place and will have to do well to avoid being stuck in B rundle yet again. C'est la vie!
