Knew Chase on $10K bill as well
No for Finland although in the FJ! round I may have done Porvoo reminds me of Paavo (Nurmi) to have guessed right.
Yes, for Collodi

Of course I know Carlo Collodi.
Known in the real world as Douglas Squasoni.

I was trying to bark up matchbooks instead of the Philippines. My dad raised his hand as soon as the think music started, and I said, "I'm sure you know it," which he misunderstood as me giving him the all-clear to respond aloud. I'm counting it as a miss for me since I was nowhere on the path to McArthur at the time I got spoiled.

I included Thursday as a win above (and for myself), but i mark it with a question here since they may have turned me down for "on cloud 9"...

Not sure if I would have remembered Collodi or not...

I wouldn't have guessed anywhere within 500 miles of Mecca Monday, figuring it had to be a remote location. The best I could come up with was Vladivostok, and I wasn't happy with that.
No guess at all Tuesday.

I would have known Carlo Collodi's name. I may not have been able to come up with it in 30 seconds, but I would have known it.

Friday's "last line" seemed too saccharine to be Twain but I did consider Fauntleroy and Black Beauty before settling on Peter Rabbit. Easter seems to come late this year. When they do ask what book ends "But Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail had bread and milk and blackberries for supper", I'll be ready.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Pinocchio just not on my radar screen for children's lit, never knew the author's name. Went with Sawyer to put something down.

Would have gotten Chase from the bill

I knew Salmon P. Chase almost entirely from the $10,000 bill.

No recognition on Wednesday's clue.

Would have known Wednesday if given MacArthur
Was leaning toward Titanic but clammed
Probably would have gotten Chase from $10,000 bill
Would not have gotten Collodi with a hundred guesses
Sprinkles are for winners.

Including my vote, Salmon P. Chase (which I thought would be a really tough one) is outpolling "I shall return" (which I thought was a really easy one) 66%-63%. It's always odd to me how what seems ungettable to some of us is right up the alley for others of us.

I had a great grandfather that was named Walter Lord. No relation to the author, who's father Walter Lord Sr. would have been about the same age as my GG. I I read A Night to Remember over forty years ago, and my GG lived until 1983.

Wed - "V for Victory" ...I blame jet lag, an extra MacArthur TOM would have counteracted that tho
Fri - Fauntleroy

$10,000 = Chase

I'm counting "I will return" as incorrect. That would have been painful if it happened on the show.

I was spoiled on clouds and can't know if I would have gotten it.
