Successfully started the quiz tonight using a different computer and browser than last night’s attempt. Felt like somewhere in the low 40s, we’ll see what it actually was when the test is posted.

Depending how lenient the "judges" are, about 33-35. Usual for me. *sigh*

I thought I was doing great, but then the final eight or so wrecked me. Probably in the 31 range yet again *sigh*.
EDIT: Checking my results with the above, exactly 35. I'll take it.

If Jeff is right on everything, I got 34. Of course. Playing off the video for the other 2 nights, I got 38 & 40.
Changed at the last second for each.
Figures.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), April 11, 2019
I got 34.
Spoiler
I had latrec for the artist. I am going to assume that will not be taken. Missed a couple that I should have known.
Although this site: https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/laut/hd_laut.htm speaks of the artist as Lautrec in certain paragraphs.
My worst misses was Michigan and The Marriage of Figaro (which I have seen). I misread the year on the battle question as 1915.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), April 11, 2019
Based on the answer sheet posted so far, I know I missed 5, 8 (data, oof), 17, 23 (are those the titles of Bill O’Reilly’s stupid novels?), 35, 46, and 48 (couldn’t get the second half). I gave “hypertonic” as the answer to 16, and I’m not convinced that’s incorrect yet.
So, 41 or 42. In the range I always fall on these tests, but I haven’t received an invite to audition since 2011.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), April 11, 2019
36 which is my probably my best showing.
Spoiler
Completely brain-farted on #4 and said New Orleans -- right year but horribly wrong and most definitely not French. Crocheting for quilting as a WAG. Digital instead of document. Rye instead of barley. Misread that it was only asking for snowboarding events and so said curling (which, on further review, was added to the program in 1998 at least, so I wasn't terribly wrong). I think I just said "Marriage" to not leave it blank but had no clue. No idea on Franzen. Said Mazda for Audi. Brainfarted again and said Himalayas. Nothing for #31. Cecily Strong instead of Aidy Bryant. Blanked on Franco, Invisible Man, and B&A. In spite of it being the best I've done, I still left a lot of easy gimmes on the table.

Thanks for posting this, Jeff. All your answers look correct to me, which would mean 46 for me tonight (conveniently the one I took for real). Most embarrassing miss: landing. Couldn’t pull the word until 5 sec after it went final.jeff6286 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2019 11:12 pmPlayed over a friend's shoulder, I think these are all right, let me know if anything is off. Based on the spoilered correct responses, I'm sitting pretty at 45/50, and 2 of those misses I wouldn't have pulled out in my wildest dreams.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), April 11, 2019
I picked the right test this year I guess. I did much better on the Tuesday test that I took for real. I got the same score of 40 on this test as last nights, but made mistakes that were far more ridiculous and inexcusable.
I think I read the Waterloo question wrong or something, need to see it again. Also missed Gemini (can never seem to make these space programs stick in my head for some reason), committed to rye and didn't reconsider barley until about 1 second left, Jonathan Franzen, Aidy Bryant (I could picture her but could not come up with her name fast enough), Tolstoy, Saving Private Ryan, Amazon, Rocks (inexcusable miss... should have been obvious from the word), and Call of the Wild Blue Yonder (could only manage the first half)

This test I took for real. 44/45. Missed:
Spoiler
1) The Scarlet Letter -- highly embarrassing miss but I've never read it, answered Little Women instead
5) quilting -- hopefully they accept "quiltmaking" for this
9) Ancient Mariner -- another stupid literature miss, typed Kubla Khan
19) Lemonade -- no idea
22) Pound -- didn't pay attention to the category, thought it was referring to coinage so I remained befuddled
48) Call of the Wild Blue Yonder -- got the Jack London novel right, but didn't know the US Air Force official song

Missed 7, not too bad. I always forget acronyms and initialisms, so pdf and NOAA weren't coming. Also missed barley, halfpipe, Audi, Citadel (Colleges and Universities, another duff category for me), and Aidy Bryant. (Audy, Aidy, Aidy, Audi.)

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), April 11, 2019
44 tonight for fun. Misses:
I found it interesting that NOAA and Noah were correct responses only two clues apart.
Spoiler
10. Rye for barley
11. Thought "halfpipe" might be too specific, so I went with "freestyle"
15. Illinois for Michigan. I think I would have gotten this one had I taken it for real, since I was doing two things at once and realized it was Michigan as soon as time ran out.
23. Went Morrison just to have something. Outside of J!, including his Celebrity J! appearance, I'm not sure I've ever heard of Franzen.
32. Went with Leslie Jones just to have something.
35. Missed the Dostoyevsky/Tolstoy coin flip.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), April 11, 2019
42 to go with 44+45+44 from the others for a 43.75 average. Tonight was the most difficult of the four in my mind.
Misses:
8. Data for pdf's D
16. insolvent for saturated - ugh too much science in this one
22. liter for pound - see above
24. Mazda for Audi - not a car guy
32. A was as much as I could recall for Aidy Bryant - could picture her from talk shows and had read about the show - more than a week ago so gone by now
38. Nothing for NOAA - more science + I'm in CA
39. spores for fungi - damn science
49. Pearl Buck even with the strong urge to switch to Tan
Even for ones I got such as Tolstoy, Marriage of Figaro & invisible man I had to work a bit to figure out the best guess. There were fewer insta-gimmes like Rachel Carson & Noah than in previous tests.
Good luck to everyone looking for an audition. Thank you to sherder and the archivists for the quick work with videos & answers.
