Feels like it's been a while since I did that...

Thursday's aired 3.5 hrs later...so I saw it Friday.

Oy, what a week! Got two right, checked three boxes indicating my incorrect guesses were nothing special. Instaguessed Life on Monday and talked myself out of it in favor of Monopoly. Spongebob, at least, I stuck with even though, like others, I felt Patrick was more "intertidal". Godwin-to-Shelley was another fairly easy get for my second and final triumph. I knew Haydn was Austrian, but Austria never occurred to me. I stuck with Deutschland = Germany and didn't think any farther. I know of Randy Newman, of course, but none of the others. The name Randy didn't suggest any alternative to me except Quaid which I quickly rejected. The distinctive name, as someone in the game thread pointed out, was Lionel. And the distinctive Hollywood Lionel is Barrymore. Boom. Done.

James took none of these missteps, offering more evidence that his impressive streak isn't just because the FJs have been easier than usual.

I just recently learned the "Harlem" title for "A Dream Deferred" from Seaborgium. But even if I hadn't, I only needed one of those titles to get to the author. I checked the box for Parliament of Owls even though I'm not entirely certain I'd have rung in with that guess. And Bauhaus is pretty standard Jeopardy! knowledge when spotted German, modernist, and design school.

Mary Shelley was a "who else could it be" that led cleanly to Frankenstein. Germany was too obvious on Thursday, and Austria felt right, borne out by my belief (I won't call it knowledge on my part) that Mozart—someone I knew to be Austrian—had some connection to Haydn. Lionel on Friday made me think Barrymore right away, but there was no John or Ethel to be found, so I looked elsewhere, and Thomas and Randy stuck out and I had it.

The three extra clues were all instagets for me.

No guess, Germany, no guess.

I've gotten Bauhaus before but didn't process the clue this time.

When I hosted my first TD, one of my questions asked for a poem by one of three poets, including Langston Hughes. Several people submitted "A Dream Deferred" and I decided to accept it as I found that the poem had occasionally been published by that name.

I knew Monopoly was Roaring '20s or possibly Depression era and THOUGHT Life was Baby Boomer era with Art Linkletter on the 100,000 bill as some sort of celebrity endorser of a new fangled game to take on Monoply. So, no guess at all.

Spongebob fan here, no prob. Got a little thing for Sandy Squirrel.

Female British authors? I didn't know I knew any.

If it wasn't Austria, I wasn't getting it on anthemology. Nobody gets in DHK's lane 8-)

90 seemed a lot for Randy Quaid, but he was funny in Christmas Vacation. About time the academy recognized greatness!

Langston Hughes has Joplin, MO roots and continues to be underappreciated here.

We have a new barn owl family every year in our old wood barn. The owlets are the ugliest, smelliest, most satanic creatures you will ever see. And they grow to be a beautiful monkey faced bird but wise they ain't.

First thing that came to mind was Life, but talked myself out of it thinking there's no way it dates all the way back to 1860, and had no guess otherwise.

Spongebob and Mary Shelley were instagets.

Went for Austria because that's the country I associate with Haydn, even though I thought it was too obvious.

Randy stuck out to me because no other Oscar-nominated Randys come to mind other than Newman. Never heard of the other members of the Newman Clan.

Monday - rejected Life in favor of Chutes and Ladders, which I knew had old roots. Overthinking...
Friday - knew Barrymore was wrong but all I could come up with. No idea there were that many Newmans.
