I honestly find it absolutely insane that we have had 5 champions in a row winning $35,000+ on their first game. I enjoy it a lot.

This game is a draw for the Strong Form of Shore's Conjecture. The second-place player bet "small." --Bob

Alex had no idea how to complete the category combination of:
BABY
SHARP
"DOO", "DOO" "DOO", "DOO", "DOO", "DOO"
He will have company with some on this board who have never see the source: Spoiler
That's 2.8 billion with a "B" views.
Funnier was the contestant shortening to ask for "Doo" "Doo" for $600.
Yikes, Dan's interview. Between himself and the staff person who goes over the chat stories that should not have happened. Dan's 18-month-old likes the opening of J!, the music and Johnny's introduction, but then Alex comes out and the show is just not as good. It got a laugh and Alex looked right into the camera saying nothing as he moved on to talk to Martin.
The FJ! clue was an embarrassment for me as I spent the break working off LANDMARKS to never once consider anything outside the U.S. during the several minutes. Fortunately, the reveal of the clue made it easy to switch gears to match the contestants. That had to go 3/3.
What gave Dan the necessary lead?
Dan got clue 24 to make the game:
Martin: 19800
Dan: 11000
Terri: 3800
BUSINESS remained and had a DD.
With control Dan picked $400.
Martin got it and selected $1200.
Terri got it and chose $1600
Dan got it and picked $2000 (stumper)
Dan had last box available at $800 for the DD. Trailing 20200 to 12600 he went for the lead with 8000.
Martin had one pick in the category and seemed to do the right thing in picking a higher value clue and today it did not work out. DD2's wager of 10800+4200 is more than some players would do though with hindsight Martin needed a lot more to assure the lead at the end of the round.
From 32 wins to 3 to 2 to 1 I will not predict a three-way tie for the FJ! round tomorrow and a triple miss clue with farm wagers to clear the contestant slate. We'll see if the carousel is getting greased up though as Dan needed that big DD play to prevail.

It's amazing that we've had five consecutive new champs win $35,000+ on their first appearance, but there hasn't been a 5-time champion since James lost. I'm hoping Dan goes on to be a 5-day champ, or I hope there'll be 5-day champ anytime before the current season wraps up.

Umm, including today's match there've only been 6 games since James lost (7 if you include the game in which he was defeated). How is it amazing that he wasn't immediately followed by a 5xer?

Has anyone ever figured out what percentage of players who are ahead going into FJ bet zero?

I put the over/under at 90% for today's Final. It doesn't get much more WECIB than that.

In a 3/4 (non-exact) or 4/5+, the leader can't bet zero without the increased risk of 2nd place jumping ahead. Assuming 2nd place wagers Martian to survive a triple stumper, the leader still needs to bet something.

Ran the Place category in J!
Not the tiniest bit of recognition in that Movies category.
Also 0/5 in Birthplace. "Javier Bardem" sounded Brazilian and not Spanish to me. Not like I know who that is, anyway.
No guess on FJ! I didn't see a single TOM in this anywhere. I don't see how Taj Mahal = teardrop, either. Anyone wanna explain how this was a triple get?

Rabindranath is a very obviously Indian name, and what other "timeless" landmarks are famously associated with India?

Tagore -> India + landmark -> Taj Mahal, instaget, I would've been shocked if this wasn't a triple get. Not as shocked as I am that this was a FJ in the first place.

That was the WTF moment of the year for me...watching that godawful video only replaces the 'what' with 'why'.

Recognizing any nouns associated with India never goes well.
Neither does hinging a clue entirely on "it sounds like it should be from X". I thought "Javier Bardem" sounded Portuguese but I was wrong on that count. It's literally 100% subjective.

Recognizing any nouns associated with India never goes well. It's long-standing tradition. Moving on, how about Terri's hometown?
I know Natick as a crossword puzzle term for an intersection of two unknown fills. Tell us about the Natick Mall.
They built a new wing to the north that looks a lot like an erect penis.

I feel for Martin a bit - had the game close to sewn up, then get blitzed at the last minute. Way to go Dan though for a great last surge and for making the absolutely correct play on DD3.
RE: Champs Carousel -- Trends probably show that after an ultra-champ we're due for a string of one and two day winners, I'll be real curious to see what transpires moving forward.
