I don't think it gave anything away except that they were on even footing to that point with their fellow competitors in previous games. That, of course, is more information than their fellow competitors had, but I don't know how useful such knowledge could be. Given they would have to each clear $18,000 to make it through together, and they were all within a few thousand of that total, and they all got FJ right, it would be hard to argue that Alex's remarks disadvantaged the wild card also-rans.floridagator wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 3:31 am AT made reference to how high the scores had been all week. I wonder if that signalled to the contestants that they needed to bet High to get a wild card.

If the comment had been made before they locked in their FJ wagers, that definitely would have given them an unfair advantage. Anyone inclined to bet $0 might re-think that strategy based on the news that the other games have also been high-scoring. However, Alex didn't make the comment until after the think music. So it had no effect on their wagers and it couldn't even have clouded their thought processes while considering their responses.seaborgium wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 4:50 amI don't think it gave anything away except that they were on even footing to that point with their fellow competitors in previous games. He also made a comment about how high the scores had been all week at the start of the game.

Re: Friday, June 21, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
You may be misremembering. There's no such comment at the start of the game. Before DJ, he does talk about the weeks' high scoring SJ rounds (not final scores). At the start, all he does is talk about the geographical clustering of previous days' winners in the southeast. Then he says, "Can we go west? Can we go north?" and starts the category reveal. But going into the DJ round he says "As has been the case all week, great scores in the first round." That doesn't directly indicate what scores were at the end of the game. Still, it's a mild hint and shouldn't have been given.floridagator wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 12:36 pm He also made a comment about how high the scores had been all week at the start of the game.

Yes, I remember the comment about the high-scoring SJ rounds. If I were there, I would take that as a signal that the games in general were high-scoring, and also the WC scores. Everything is information.

Am I the only one who wanted to say that half of fourscore is twoscore?
