The guys looked like they were trying to imitate the dabbing thinker at introduction and Alex tried to follow suit. Coordinated openings have gone better and the guys demonstrated choreography is not their strength.

If Ryan had gone all in at DD3 that would have been 21600 for the FJ! round. Doubled is 43200 and plus 15999 from yesterday is the possible 59199 while Avi if needed could have done 18200 doubled for 36400 plus 24200 from yesterday for 60,600.

The FJ! category had me so confident where it was going that I wrote the correct response instantly. When the clue popped up it was a laughing gimme and nothing for my pen to do. During think time I noticed that more than half of the correct response was contained within the clue's wording.

Advantage leader and that was Avi to take the title. Ryan was there for the overall lead in the DJ! round even without the farm on DD3 while Avi did enough to overtake Ryan before the round ended.

Reminder for the return of regular play on Monday:

Code: Select all

Avi: 24200 18200 42400 60600
Lucas: 14800 4600 19400 24000
Ryan: 15999 17400 33399 50799
Avi: Wager $8,400 to cover Ryan.
Ryan: You have to get FJ right to beat Avi. Bet more than $601, but less than $9,398 to stay ahead of Lucas. (You can clear the second place minimum, but an extra $799 isn't worth the risk.)
Lucas: Avi has you superlocked, Ryan doesn't need to risk letting you back in an attempt to win, and you can't clear the minimum. Bet what you want.

Yeah, they all played a great game, but Ryan did leave a ton of money on the table.

The FJs in this tournament have been maddening. I often feel like the writers overshoot when trying to tone down the material for the teens, into Kids week territory, but tonight...

Gotta say, this was a very exciting teen tournament overall! They really brought in a bunch of bright young players, and that made it incredibly intriguing to watch! I'd say this is my personal favorite teen tournament of the ones I've seen.

But alas, there can only be one ultimate winner, and so congrats to Avi for playing very well on each of your episodes and for coming out the winner! Very remarkable thing you have accomplished. Ryan played greatly too, and definitely deserved that silver medal IMO.

Avi was extremely entertaining. This was a good group all around.

I was 27/30 in J! round, all but nothingburger (NHOI), Praetoria, and Imagine Dragons.

I thought asking how many years in an eon was extremely difficult for $400, especially on Teen Week.

Tried the precall game with Shangri-La, Fountain of Youth, El Dorado, and maybe one or two others. Camelot just wasn't on my radar at all.

But Camelot is a silly place...

Smiled when nothingburger & fake news came up as responses

Overall tournament impressions:

Writers/producers should have more confidence in teens and increase the difficulty of teen tournaments. The clues were too easy for these contestants and most games were pure buzzing contests.

Such smart teens should wager better, though. By that, I mean throughout the tournament; at least nobody mis-wagered in FJ tonight.

My cable box glitched so I read the clues from the Archive. Did they really give "You are lost and gone forever, oh my darling Clementine" as the finish of that classic American lyric? I've always heard "You are lost and gone forever, dreadful sorry Clementine".

Someone posted a mention of FJ! on a theatre message board I frequent. There was a spoiler warning and I read the clue in this thread before I did anything else, but it's possible that the mere mention of FJ! on that message board pointed me toward Camelot and away from other responses.

Great tournament, though it would nice to see the FJ! difficulty ramped up a notch or two.

Did you outfox yourselves by switching from Camelot to Avalon? Or did you think of Avalon first and figure that must be right?

You're right, dreadful sorry, Clementine is correct...It's possible Alex added oh my darling on his own. I'm sure they would have accepted just You are lost and gone forever...

If this were a TOC, then yeah, I'd consider Avalon. But for teens? Way too hard.
