Not a chance I can do lotus position*
United Nations
9/10

For the Friday FJ! clue I only had Camelot and never thought of Avalon. Even if I had thought of Avalon I would have needed something about Arthur/island/isle to make me consider it.

*I can't even do basic cross-legged sitting and never could. In kindergarten I got in trouble for not being able to sit "Indian style" as it was called back then. My mom had to explain to the teacher it hurt and for whatever reason my legs don't go that way comfortably. W sitting was more comfortable although not okay in school and my parents of course tried to discourage it at home as well. That left sitting on my knees, knees tucked up or legs to the side. In junior high or high school gym class I do no recall sitting positions as an issue for anyone no matter how one sat. I never heard "criss-cross applesauce" until the second Reagan administration.

I don't know if I can do lotus position, but I'm not going to try...

Was accidentally spoiled on Monday's FJ, so I didn't check it--probably would have been something I could have reasoned my way towards, but I abstained from checking it just in case. Was otherwise 9/9, all playing off of here.

Wished I could've seen the tourney, but had prior commitments almost every night of both weeks. Congrats to Avi especially, and to the rest of the teens as well for getting on and doing a great job!

10 for 10 in the tournament

Don’t think I can do a proper lotus position, flexibility not a strong point of mine

I don't think I can do the lotus position, but I've never tried.

I just had nothing on the misses. 2/10 has to be a board low for a TT, right?

Leland Stanford seemed like the best guess. Couldn't think of any other strong contenders. George Pepperdine? Harvey Mudd. Calvin Berkeley? Liberia seemed obvious. Surprised it was a TS. To be fair, I don't recall learning about it in high school. So I might have been just as clueless at these kids' ages. Still, this clue will poll high. But not higher than the Scrooge clue. This was the gimme of the tournament. Considered UN. Went with the Geneva Conventions. Didn't think of NATO. Camelot was my first thought. Thought of Avalon just by doing due diligence to see what else I could come up with. Stuck with Camelot.

Schwarzwald was a surprising TS. It just seemed like common knowledge. I guess they knew what they were doing putting it in the $2000 spot. I saw Fiddler on the Roof at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles in 1981 with Herschel Bernardi in the role of Tevye. There was a time when I could have sung along with the entire soundtrack. Lost Incan City = Machu Picchu. That's a Jeopardy! staple.

You didn't consider John Ucla or David Cal-Irvine?
Never been on J!, but once won a knockoff version that aired on local access TV.

Thought of Avalon first, but changed my mind.

I have no idea if I could do lotus or not.

9/10, missing Iliad for Aeneid.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Slightly less trouble than typing it myself, but mostly it feels better.

Speaking of which, I think I can just about manage the lotus position, though I use my hands to lift my feet into position. But if this is what Nirvana feels like, please cancel my reservation.

Never heard of "criss cross applesauce" till this week. But now that I have, it'd make a cool album name for either Kris Kross or Christopher Cross.
I'm smart and I want respect.

Second 8-for-8 week, but I don't think I could have done it as a teen.

As a teen, I could sit cross-legged, though. Not sure I've tried since my twenties. Certainly not since my thirties. These days, sitting on the floor in ANY fashion leads to a 30-second effort to get back on my feet. Familiar with "lotus position" and "Indian style," but heard "criss-cross applesauce" for the first time during the game.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.
