Richard Scarry for Sendak.

Was spoiled on Dead Sea, but confident I would have gotten it.

I got the first four by guessing. There wasn't a single one where I knew for sure I was right. I had no chance on Carpathia. The name didn't sound unfamiliar, but there was no way I was coming up with it. My guess was the Britannic, another ship in the White Star Line that sank (in 1916 as it turns out). I remembered reading the story of a woman who survived both disasters.

Qumran = Dead Sea Scrolls. Perigee is just a word you're supposed to know. I think I learned about Marat and Corday from missing them on previous clues.

We'll spend the summer break catching up on the games we missed during Lent. I expect we'll be up to date by September 9. But I'm only 99 percent sure that this means we'll have seen every game from Season 35. It's possible we somehow missed one. It's also possible that one of those Lenten recordings will turn out to be breaking news or a police chase. Plus, there was one game earlier this week where my recorder screwed up and I didn't get it fixed until the contestant interviews. We missed the first half of SJ on that one. So I decided not to check the box.

I had Eric Carle for the picture book one, and blanked on the Eagles album.

A nice set of FJs to go out on...not so easy and none in favorite categories, but only Monday's was a challenge...
Knew it was peri- something, but blanked...
It's not always easy to set the time aside, but I still watch every day. I do look forward to a little summer break, but I'll be back in Sept.!

Arabian Sea. I know a Kamran from Iran. Maybe that was why.

I guessed Hotel California quickly thanks to my dim memory of Grammy lists (the album came out in 1976, but the award-winning title-track single not till 1977. So a better memory might have produced a worse response).

Definitely did not watch all 230 games, and definitely not in the pool. The last email I got from Jeopardy was titled "Another Teen Tourney starts today!" Even the exclamation point at the end could not render this news exciting to me. Had they included, Spanish-style, an upside-down exclam at the beginning of the sentence, then there might have been at least a brief thrill.
I'm smart and I want respect.

No answer; "Titanic's sister ship." Annoyed at myself for not getting Hotel California, because an Eagles greatest hits collection is one of the few rock CDs I own. If I'd thought of the Eagles, I'm certain I would have gotten it, but every artist I thought of in time was definitely not "LA-situated."

I said perihelion instead of perigee. Wrong orbit.

Ever since I couldn't come up with Corday's name for this FJ, I've had her name and Marat's burned in my mind.

I'm certain I missed a bunch of episodes this season. I've had two trips in the last several weeks and didn't watch those episodes, and just didn't watch for a few weeks, and I may have missed some episodes around the time the Reddit posts stopped.

Not in the contestant pool.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Pictionary Tuesday. Knew what they were going for on Friday, but couldn’t pull the name.

Missed a handful of episodes, mostly around Christmas, and parts of some others I tuned in late to. Not likely to catch up on them

Had nothing for Wednesday. Misread Thursday's FJ and thought it was a Rolling Stone album. Tried to get Carpathia, got Constellation for Friday.

Qumran = Dead Sea Scrolls, easy science, famous painting. Good set.
With my schedule, I am often commuting from work when J! is on, particularly at the start of the week.

California, Red Sea, perihelion

I imagine I would have pulled Dead Sea had I been paying full attention and not preparing to dash out the door for work. The DSS reference was obvious.
