Thanks, I did see that about Matt Blair as the S.F. Chronicle Sporting Green has a section called Digest that covers miscellaneous things like transactions and death. Matt Blair (even though not a Bay Area player) got a paragraph around the time of his death and today (can take several days or even longer) it was Lindy McDaniel (pitched for Giants) whose passing got a mention.Bamaman wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 4:44 pmI also found this when looking up info about Hornung. This is going to make any memorabilia with his autograph skyrocket in price. My dad is a big sports memo. collector, and one of his most prized items is an old-style Miami Dolphins helmet with a signature of every member of the undefeated '72 Dolphins. The most impressive signature on it was Super Bowl MVP Jake Scott because he was well-known in collecting circles to be very unwilling to give out his signature, but my dad was luckily able to get him. I'll have to inform him about this one.Bamaman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 10:25 pm Jake Scott, MVP of the undefeated Dolphins Super Bowl win, dies at age 75.

Yeah and then there were the games they played against themselves in practice scrimmages. Those count as one loss plus one win each. Only, as you well know, they DON'T count. I thought about specifying non-preseason for smart-arses like you. But I didn't want to tip people in the right direction. So I figured everyone knows that games that don't count don't count. I'm still pretty confident that's the case.

The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

I believe that Rafer Johnson was the correct response to a clue I missed on my contestant test in 2002.cinemaniax7 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 3:32 pm Rafer Johnson, who won the Olympic gold medal in the decathlon for USA in 1960, has died at the age of 86. He was the first Black American to carry the U.S. flag in the Olympic opening ceremonies, lit the cauldron at the 1984 Olympics, and was one of the men who disarmed Sirhan Sirhan after he shot and killed Robert Kennedy in 1968.
His obituary is well worth reading.

I simply paused Adblock in order to read the story. Feel free to read about RJ via another site. I meant to imply that his life was well lived, not that the LA Times did a particularly stellar job recounting it.Bamaman wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 9:04 pmIt isn’t worth buying a subscription to the LA Times.cinemaniax7 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 02, 2020 3:32 pm Rafer Johnson, who won the Olympic gold medal in the decathlon for USA in 1960, has died at the age of 86. To be fair, it wasn't wide open at all. Firstly, Mercedes called Russell in for a pit stop that they never should have and then Russell got unlucky and hit some debris and got a slow puncture and had to pit again, dropping him down to 14th from 1st. He did put on quite the show in the last few laps and got up to 9th to score his first 3 points in F1 (2 for 9th plus 1 for fastest lap), but small consolation when he most likely would have won the race. I think we're looking at a future world champion.
This isn't to say that Perez didn't deserve to win. He absolutely did. He lost a podium last week when his engine blew with about 4 laps to go and he's clearly one of the best drivers on the grid. The fact that he doesn't have a ride for next year so far is a travesty.

Former Senator Paul Sarbanes died yesterday. He's probably most famous for the TPH-friendly named Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
