Thu - Savannah

Decided to have a Filet O'Fish for the first time last week. *makes so-so hand gesture* I wouldn't go back for another, but wouldn't turn one down.
The best thing that Neil Armstrong ever did, was to let us all imagine we were him.

I was looking for an adjective on Wednesday (I have a pet peeve for nouns being said to "describe" the thing they merely refer to), and I guess I'm bad on Atlantic ports in the South.

I am aware of the existence of the Cock Robin poem, and I know the sparrow has been implicated in J! clues previously, but the phrasing of the clue kept me from figuring out that I could solve it by finding a rhyme for "arrow."

The inclusion in the poll of two questions for a binary choice should give us some information about how many poll-takers ignore the lower questions. Right now the numbers add up but will that stay the case?

No answer (I was trying to think of an adjective); Savannah.

Well, there's a third option. I have no idea if I've eaten a Filet-O-Fish or not. Certainly not in the last ~30 years.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Merle Haggard on Monday. I figured he'd died reasonably recently and deserved a valedictory FJ appearance (Breaking--not all that recently, in fact).

Unfamiliar with that children's book author and never very good with tools.

No specific memory of eating a Filet O' Fish, but I assume I must have, because I haven't set out consciously to avoid it.

I first learned of Cock Robin and Sparrow here:

...later sort of reinforced by Byron's lines on Keats in "Don Juan".
I'm smart and I want respect.

Instantly went with New Orleans on Thursday without giving it a second thought, based on an LL question from not that long ago.

Never heard of the Cock Robin nursery rhyme nor the steam shovel book.

Savannah instead of Charleston.
Snake, not copperhead.
I remember my mom reading the steam shovel book to me, and I read it to my son too.

Couldn't pull Copperhead in time; for some reason I thought it was more associated with the 1820s or so. Had no idea Angkor Wat was associated with Vishnu, but "large religious complex abandoned six hundred years ago" was pretty telling, as was "steam shovel" for "a digging machine in a kid's book."

I'm sure I've eaten a filet-o-fish. But I couldn't tell you when. Decades ago, I'm thinking.
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Whenever I found myself at McD's, I used to eat Filet-O-Fish to avoid the hamburgers but now have traded them for chicken nuggets to avoid the carbs in the bun. But I thought they were pretty decent.

I got the copperhead from one of the two 2019 J! appearances (courtesy Mark B:
Spoiler
#8096, aired 2019-11-18 WAR STORIES $1600: "Copperhead" by Bernard Cornwell
#8047, aired 2019-09-10 NAME-CALLING IN POLITICS $1000: Northerners against the Civil War embraced this beastly nickname & cut the heads out of Liberty pennies to wear as badges
. I NHO this nugget before. I would have not guessed it without the recent exposure. I highly doubt that copperheads hiss. What makes them dangerous is they freeze and hide instead of running away like other snakes. Then they accidentally get stepped on. But, 2/3rds of snakebites to humans is from trying to handle the snake ;) .

The satellite clue stopped my second ever box of Glory and should have been a wheelhouse category. Great get by MacKenzie and it is polling under 55% as expected (but not in the 30's).

Rough week, culminating in me thinking that Clement Vallandigham was a "hissing donkey."
