+1 FJ

Ecuador, though?

I wasn’t getting jelly beans but I guess it sounds familiar now that I think about it, but I don’t really like to think about Ronald Reagan

I've been eating Jelly Belly since I was a little kid, and I remember that being one of the factoids they used to print on some of the packaging.

I said Jelly Bellies and counted it. Apparently licorice was his favorite. The monster.
I was gonna say that Jelly Bellies, the specific brand, may be too new to be what Reagan ate ... but my research shows that on their site, they specifically point out a letter from (then Gov) Reagan praising the company's predecessor (Goelitz Mini Jelly Beans) in 1973; and the first actual Jelly Bellies are 1978.

Coryat: 31,200
44 R/2 W
DD: 3/3
FJ:
LT: Taylor Swift, marshal, jelly beans (DD), San Gabriel, Barbary pirates (DD)

Strangely '80s-esque FJ! with no TOM. Also strange that it has only been 10 weeks since we last saw this category in FJ!

Sad that Evan made exactly the right wager (given Adam's wager from the previous game) to win on a TS, got the TS, and then lost because the leader got lucky with a nonsensical wager amount.

Embarrassingly costly miss for me as I accidentally said Dinah Shore rather than Diahann Carroll.
Sprinkles are for winners.

Did not get Belize. Honestly don't remember which Central American countries I picked. I think I went with Honduras and Nicaragua.

At least I'm not my husband, who picked Venezuela as one of his three...

The chain reaction does involve fission, but I think the whole point of the clue was to get to the "chain reaction" part.
Fission can occur without the chain reaction, so I'd say no.
My vibe for the clue is that you had it at "nuclear", and could have added "reactor", "fission", or the anachronism, "chain reaction". If this were a game of password, I'd use all ten hints and still not pulled this archaic term. Like the sound barrier and the four minute mile, once you get there the mystique is gone :).

Once before, long ago, after a Mediterranean geography category was butchered, even with maps in the clues, I made a comment about the spectacle being a marker for typical American geographical ignorance. One of the contestants became defensive about it in this forum. So--

I mark it as a condemnation of our educational system that three self-identified polymaths good enough to clear the hurdles to broadcast would not be familiar with the geographical contours of our immediate neighbor to the south. Frankly, with due respect to these three contestants, I find it appalling that such a basic bit of geography could go unanswered. Er, unquestioned. Geography is a wheelhouse for me, but still...

I don't know which one, but I bet it's a woman among the choices of:

Ariana Grande
Lizzo
Michelle Williams
Julie Kavner
Diahann Carroll

It was Diahann Carroll.
That makes sense and I would have guessed her except her recent passing last year had tributes including the clue details to make me think perhaps you got it.

Webster's Second has an entry for "numinism", defined as "the form or religion in which belief in numina was the dominant element" (numina being divine forces or powers associated with a place or object).
