Chat time should come with a warning to insert earplugs as Sarah used "you know" three times. This must be the book Sarah talked about: https://www.amazon.com/Night-Pompon-pub ... oks&sr=1-1
Tim may not have slept well on taping night.
DD2: 8200+3000 in a second box clue with Sarah at 12000
DD3: 20400-6000 in a $2000 slot with Sarah at 16000 and 3 clues worth $1200 remaining.
floridagator: Take it away. You have our permission.
The FJ! clue still has me shaking my head at myself. I spent half the time debating which Wright brother to write before realizing that would not be fair and makes no sense. Making the mistake of still thinking domestically I switched to Harley for a more clean-cut name always coming first.
Knowing me even if I had been on the right continent and had thought cars I would have picked a German thinking the Brit went elsewhere to learn.
Why couldn't the clue have just been a Sikorsky-helicopter match like I precalled?
Sarah eked out a victory to keep the champ carousel spinning and nice to see she wagered enough as her having played no DDs left room for doubt until the big number appeared. Tim demonstrated ToC capabilities in two games, so his loss of $30,000 today could have been much higher.

Won't see the game until tomorrow, but I hopped in to check out the FJ now.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 11:29 am The FJ! clue still has me shaking my head at myself. For me, it helped to know that several Airbus models use Rolls-Royce engines.

Had to swat away Pratt and Briggs to get to the right one.
Re: Friday, April 24, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Why are they interrupting Jeopardy for the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the NFL draft, when the FIRST round went on without interrupting anything? Ugh.
Re: Friday, April 24, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
on DDs
My FJ precall was way old school, Archimedes.
Guessed Daimler for FJ. Early engine designs, I'm going with the Germans

I wasn’t paying too much attention to the scores when DD3 came up, but looking back now...ye gods. Might have legitimately cost himself $100k with that wager.
England + engine + famous duo = quick get for me. Finally had a decent night after a miserable week.

Wow, as a result of this episode, I wonder when the last time was where all 5 winners of the week came from the third podium.
I recall Halloween in 2013 when all 5 winners that week came from the second podium.

I really struggled on these boards.
0/5 in 20th Century Authors and Movie Villain Quotes. Can't say I've heard of Misery or Whiplash.
No guess on FJ! The namesakes of Rolls-Royce have not crossed my paths before that I know of.
Lach Trash: Nautilus. Also got the Kepler DD.

Re: Friday, April 24, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
That was a hell of a game. When the double jeopardy ended I was thinking about how important it is to be in the lead at that point. It made all the difference tonight.
Unfortunately, I went with the new champ and her first thought of Aston. I wasn't very confident about that but at least I didn't fall into the Trap of answering Orville Wright.

I'd rather cuddle then have sex. If you're into grammar, you'll understand.

You did fall into the trap of picking something named after a place and not a person, though.floridagator wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 9:05 pm Unfortunately, I went with the new champ and her first thought of Aston. Anyone else yell at their TV when Sarah mispronounced the title of the John Fowles novel.
Anyway, congrats to Sarah for an impressive performance.
for those who don't know
It's The French LEF-tenant's Woman

Instaget FJ, in part because of information I remembered from The Case of the Roving Rolls, a wonderful Brains Benton mystery I read as an 8-year-old.
Suboptimal wager by Tim in that last DD.
