This is the one I would have dropped if I'd remembered the drop. So feel free to deduct 4 points from my score and 1 from the scores of Leander, Woof, and jfmk. :D This really is the obvious one to drop, assuming you know at least one possible answer to all the other questions. There are only 6 possible answers to this one and enough players will know all 6 that it's just a mind game. In retrospect I see how Sense and Sensibility was the obvious choice here. Anyone playing the reverse psychology game will go with P & P. Anyone trying to find the most obscure choice in a field of non-obscure choices will avoid P & P and S & S. Of course, if I had gone with Sense and Sensibility, it would have scored a 2, tying with Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park, thus invalidating my reasoning.
There's the psychology (or reverse psychology) of picking the difficult (or easy) answer...and it looks like that applies to the psychology (or reverse psychology) of picking the question with lots (or few) possible answers. If everyone's going to drop Austen, may as well pick it up, right?

I was vacillating between Emma (a middle-of-the-road answer, but the first one I think of thanks to Clueless) or Pride/Sense (sheepbait). I took the bait, but found no sheep.

Oh, and what kind of person FORGETS to use their drop? :o ;) ;)

My normal process is to answer all the questions, then go back through and decide which to drop. My original answer before dropping was S&S, so it could have been worth 3. I'm just glad we don't get dinged when the drop option is the sheep.

And then there are the times I forget step two and don't drop one........
I'm not the defending Jeopardy! champion. But I have played one on TV.

Dropping Q6 as Opus discussed is probably the right play, but this is why I think there's a case for dropping Q7 as well. There's an equally narrow answer range with questions that, for the most part, are not particularly difficult. If you have a strong inkling that the field is leaning toward dropping 6, then absolutely swoop in and pick up an easy 2 or 3.

A while back I recall a question asking to pick one of the eight Ivy League schools and that's another one where mind games come in. Knowing how TDs usually play out, my process on that one -- and maybe your process for figuring out how to attack a question like this -- was to identify the hardest/least well known and avoid those, assume that someone will pick up the easier ones in that set, and then settle on something in the middle. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

7.) Pyramid/Lucky Sevens

My state is one of the last to reopen, which has left me lots of time to watch game shows such as Match Game, The Chase and The Pyramid (among others). You need seven correct answers in a round of Pyramid to achieve a perfect score. Given some hints a Pyramid contestant might give, identify one of these seven famous groups of sevens.
  • Aventine Hill, Viminal Hill Seven Hills of Rome
  • Colossus of Rhodes, Hanging Gardens of Babylon Seven Wonders of the World
  • Asia, Africa, Antarctica Earth's Continents
  • Lundi, Mardi, Mercredi Days of the Week (in French)
  • Dopey, Doc, Bashful The Seven Dwarfs
  • Pride, envy, sloth Seven Deadly Sins
  • Skipper, Ginger, Mary Ann Seven Castaways of Gilligan's Island

8.) Random Trivia

Grab Bag categories in a quiz contest typically consist of questions that do not relate to one another - random trivia, if you will. Here are questions about random things, or things that are sort of random.

9.) Food

On the heels of the last question, another name for random categories is potpourri. In French, potpourri translates to rotten pot. Answer a question relating to pots of various kinds, or foods with odors.
  • YouGov and a 2019 Huffington Post article shared that this fish is the least favorite pizza topping among respondents -- 49%! anchovies
  • A livescience.com article asks; why does (this green vegetable with a folk name meaning sparrow grass) make your pee smell funny? Asparagus
  • Bela Lugosi and Robert Pattinson would know that garlic is an archenemy of these creatures Vampires
  • A common idiom is “the pot calling the kettle _____” (this color) Black
  • Philadelphia Pepper Pot stew features this ingredient, the stomachs of various animals Tripe
  • This type of flat-bottomed pan shares a name with a Jon Cooper rock band that has Memphis origins Skillet
  • Martin Yan is familiar with this “w”, a bowl-shaped cooking pot used in Chinese cuisine Wok
  • Andrew Zimmern of Bizarre Foods compared the smell of this excessively smelly southeast Asian fruit to “completely rotten mushy onions” Durian
  • This veggie with a western European capital in its name makes some some lists of pungent foods Brussels Sprouts
  • One of the stinkiest cheeses is this one that traces its origins to Belgium and what is now the Liege province Limburger
Not a popular pizza topping (apparently), but a popular answer!

10.) Scrap Heap

To wrap up, here are some questions and/or topics that were shelved for a variety of reasons. A true melange to wrap up the grab bag quiz.

  • This sandwich cookie lost out to Oreo and was discontinued in 2003; over a decade later, it was reintroduced by Leaf Brands Hydrox

I certainly left the door open for Gamawire or Leander to pass me with a 7 on the last two questions, but fortune favored me there. Great game everyone.

This may be my best finish ever in a TD. I've probably played fewer than 10, so that's not as impressive (or pathetic) as it might seem.

That was extremely generous scoring on Q10, boss. I'll take it, but I'll also take a penalty on further review.

My “all-sheep all-the-time” strategy fell apart at the end with I think my best TD finish so far. If I’d thought to use my drop, I might have cracked the Top 10. Thanks for the game, threearruda.
