I deliberated over the reception of such a gimmick, but ultimately wrote in the introduction that
Lowest total score will be the champion

so the lowest score will be the winner per usual. However, and I alluded to this as well in the intro, I did want to recognize the true sheep of the flock, which is why I'm preparing the special prize for bottom finisher(s) at the end of the reveal. If you update your winners list after this, you're more than welcome to add an additional note for this bonus "prize" if you so choose.

LOL, perish the thought. I hope somebody out sheeps me to the bottom. I will leave honors like that for SenseiCay.

What if the person who sheeps the most doesn't finish with the highest score?

Also, I would love a TS (Think Similar), where sheep are good..... maybe I'll have to write one for that.

  • Skype was popular when I was younger; this video communications company that shares its name with a WGBH-produced kids show has taken over in 2020 Zoom

While the top of the field had extended their lead yesterday, the advantage evaporated for our leaders today. Just ten points separate the top sixteen players, so over half of the field still has a realistic chance as we approach the final - and perhaps most unpredictable - questions in this TD. Be sure to come back tomorrow for the final results!

Will my risky move pay off? We'll see. I'd abandoned all hope after the first five were revealed - 2 sheep, and 2 that were one point off a sheep. (Okay, the PRI doesn't really count, but it doesn't count much for anyone.)

I just hope everyone who still has a drop wound up dropping the medal question. That was the obvious move...I thought different.

I forget what the other incorrect word was, but I was scared to death that I had accidentally typed in something completely foolish like ANTIPODAL or ANTIPLASMATIC during my brainstorm for the "pri" question. I started with prism, extended it, then got on an antip- kick, but not all of them went "PRI".

12.) Closing Ceremonies

The closing ceremonies are a celebration of the games that have occurred. Per the Department of Commerce, there are ten federal holidays observed annually in the United States, where banks, schools, federal buildings and so on are closed and we celebrate - maybe. Name one of these ten. (NOTE: this does not include Inauguration Day in Washington D.C.)

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Washington’s Birthday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Veterans' Day
Thanksgiving Day

Congratulations to the co-champions of TD 449 and the Sheeplympics Gold Medalists, Ironhorse and Gamawire! Ironhorse led the pack all week, just hanging on after a couple of late sheep responses. Gamawire hung around the top ten, utilizing a drop on the medalist question and providing a clutch 2-point “Veterans Day” answer to move up and secure the tie. Kudos as well to MattKnowles for a strong third place finish. Nice work outrunning the sheep!

Golden Sheep Awards

I had mentioned in the intro that I might have a special "prize" for the last place finisher, being that parts of the quiz dealt with previous sheep answers in my games. Modifying my initial plan a bit, I would also like to recognize Peachbox, teapot37 and Leander. Peachbox unfortunately finished last, while the latter two players, by my count, had the most sheep answers if you count “drop” as the sheep for Q11 (that would be seven apiece. Others are added to this group if you do not, making it six apiece). Please accept the "Golden Sheep" award; hopefully this prize helps soften the blow of finishing toward the back of the pack - you still won something after all!

This wraps up the Sheeplympics! Please be sure to check out whatever TD games might be on the horizon - clt013 has another one soon and hopefully I'll have another ready later this year as well. Thank you all for playing along!

This was a fun quiz, thanks for putting it together! Though, I’m kicking myself for picking Avenue Q over Vermont on the basis of “the Dean Scream was parodied so much in 2004 and Avenue Q isn’t even on Off-Broadway any more.”
