Re: March Madness
Normally, I would have had a good ten brackets to follow, but getting The Call a few weeks ago kinda changed the ol' priorities.
Make it March Gladness for me, no matter how the show(s) work out.

I had Michigan State winning it all and Xavier in the Final Four. I don't even want to look at the pathetic shape my bracket is in.
At least I picked Stephen F. Austin to beat West Virginia....

Yeah that half of my bracket is up in smoke now. Friggin' Xavier. Hopefully Kansas will win it all to salvage something from that sorry bracket.ouachiouat wrote:I had Michigan State winning it all and Xavier in the Final Four. I don't even want to look at the pathetic shape my bracket is in.

Re: March Madness
I had the brilliant idea to believe this was one of those years where nothing makes sense, and UConn somehow makes a run to the Final Four.ouachiouat wrote:I had Michigan State winning it all and Xavier in the Final Four. I don't even want to look at the pathetic shape my bracket is in.

Well, nothing is making sense, at least. (Including my bracket.)

Re: March Madness
With the exception of the Xavier loss, this weekend couldn't have gone much better for me. I went 12/16, and my other three misses were where my Sweet 16 pick lost in the first round. Six of my Elite Eight picks are still alive (I had Xavier and Michigan St.), and my entire Final Four is intact. I'm sitting at #19,701 on ESPN.
It's mostly luck, but I'll ride the wave as far as it goes.

Wow, I thought that I was doing well but you put me to shame. GL going forward.BigDaddyMatty wrote:With the exception of the Xavier loss, this weekend couldn't have gone much better for me. Re: March Madness
I got the good luck for last night getting all four games right to temporarily take the lead from BigDaddyMatty.
But all it takes is for one game to go the other way and with the weighting so heavy towards the last games that it's anyone's ballgame.

Yeah, not going chalk really hurt me last night. My Final Four is still intact, though, so all is not lost.

I'm right up there with you, even though 3 of our Final 4's are different. Go Kansas, Oklahoma, and Syracuse (I had Michigan State)!!!kettledrum wrote:I got the good luck for last night getting all four games right to temporarily take the lead from BigDaddyMatty.

Re: March Madness
Kettledrum now has me covered. Dang. I guess second place wouldn't be so bad.
Also, Kansas losing is a very good thing for the other teams remaining in the tournament. I'd rather Virginia win and I lose than the other way around.

Amazingly enough, I'm still in the 95.9%ile even after getting only 2 of my Final Four correct. And even more amazingly, it looks like I can still leapfrog a few people if UNC makes it to the Finals.

Re: March Madness
My heart hurts after that UVa loss. How in the world does a Top Five defensive team, which also happens to be a Top Five slowest pace team, manage to give up a 13-point lead in less than three minutes? To me it seems possibly even less probable than UNI's collapse against A&M. I really thought this could be the year that Tony Bennett staked his claim as the best young coach in the country and made Virginia a basketball destination for years to come. The program will be fine and is just starting to attract top recruits, but ouch. Just ouch.

Re: March Madness
Next year someone else can bring up this thread. My bringing it up this year led to a last place finish when I decided to make a secondary set of selections. If I would have copied my picks from the WWTBAM Bored I would have tied for 5th: http://games.espn.go.com/tournament-cha ... pID=189784SlickRick87 wrote:Classic finish. I love basketball...
Great game for a neutral viewer. Sorry, Heels.

Re: March Madness
I find it utterly hilarious that despite losing ky National Champion on the second day of the tournament (I don't count the idiotic "first four" games) I still managed to finish in the top three of each of my pool groups. If Syracuse had advanced instead of Carolina, I would likely have won two of them. March Madness, ya gotta love it.
