I completely missed the clue that the man's name was Coon. I thought that somehow the furry lobsters that John Hodgman has joked about were somehow real.
Not many people can say they've lost four times on Jeopardy!.

8/12 and 396 points. 3rd place in my rookie rundle - but it also would have been 3rd in the A rundle lol
And I was lucky enough to money for maximum points. I'd never heard of Amy Grant or those jockeys. Missed Yellowstone and the Zayn Malik, Gigi Hadid question. I fell into the trap and had guessed "Timberlake" with a good deal of confidence.

I finished second in my rundle and 110th overall; missed John Wick and jockeys.

I put astronauts for Q8 about occupations. Seems like there's been a conscious effort to get diversity in astronauts and those names certainly seemed to fit that theme.
Not my greatest effort. I got eight right for 326. I changed from Hadid to Delevingne right before submitting.

7/12 for me, 266 points as I took a shot on Q2 with Nick Lachey and moneyed it and had some other poor moneying decisions. The jockey one took me a minute until I realized there wasn't another sports question and then I realized why all those names sounded familiar.
I'm 0-3-2 in my last 5 to drop out of promotion in spite of being on pace for my best TCA ever.

OH COME ON!
Three beers and I had to be matched against one of the other ones...
Literally the worst.

TIL the current view when the site is scoring the games is a BLM message.

An atom (or group of atoms) that has lost one or more electrons, making it positively charged, is a specific type of ion known by what name?
positively charged ion
how was I wrong on this one?

My opponent missed Great Barrier Reef AND gave me 3 points for it. Wonder what he was thinking there? I can’t even think of another plausible answer!

Re: Learned League 86 - Aug/Sep 2020
I wondered if there was some trick to that one and it was some island group, but I figured if it was the Great Barrier Reef and I put something else I would feel dumb. I was right, but my opponent beered it so I'm now 0-4-2 in my last 6 to fall 4 points out of promotion zone...

Maybe because "reef" was in the question.

One day I'll stop mixing up cation and anion...yesterday was not that day.
Edit: ahh, thank you LL forum: https://learnedleague.com/question.php?83&5&6
Feels like there was a question a couple or few seasons ago that had the same conundrum...

Water in which the hydrogen atoms, 1H, are replaced by the heavier isotope deuterium, 2H, is most commonly referred to as water described by what adjective?

There’s also the relationship to cathode and anode in electronics, though that may not help everyone.kerryoakie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 12:41 pmThe way I remember it is that bodybuilders use ANabolic steroids to get bigger, so ANions get an extra electron.

One I read yesterday (after the fact, obvs) was "Cat(ion)s are Pawsitive"

Finally broke a 6 game non-winning streak (4 losses, 2 ties). Thought of Yankee Doodle, but didn't sing the song at all, so I didn't get to macaroni....I put 'Pastafarian.'

Normally, anion/cation would have been a coin flip. However, I adopted a cat this spring and went with cation. I celebrated by giving him a couple of extra treats.

If you are wanting to join LL now is the time to get in. The league will be limiting new members starting in February in an attempt to keep it from getting too big and unmanageable. I can refer someone if they are interested.
