Michael Dukakis, by the by, is still alive at 87. I had him in the Already Gone column in my brain for some reason. I doubt he'll succeed in making it back to the Still Alive column. When my brain kills people, they tend to stay dead no matter how alive they actually are. I had Walter Mondale in the Already Gone column for years before he finally capitulated. More than once during that time I looked him up to refresh my memory on when he had died only to find out he was still alive. I was surprised each time and the information never stuck.cinemaniax7 wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 4:32 pm Oscar-winning actress Olympia Dukakis has died at the age of 89. Dukakis won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Cher's world-weary mother in Moonstruck. She also had memorable parts in Steel Magnolias, Look Who's Talking, and Mr. Holland's Opus. Dukakis, who was also an Obie-winning actress and three-time Emmy nominee, was the cousin of one-time Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis.
On the other hand, I've finally got it into my head that Henry Kissinger is still alive. I still find it hard to believe, but at least I'm aware that that's the current claim.

Odd thing about this archived game: In the Game Dynamics graph, along the y-axis there's a minus sign showing at the -$500 level but not at the -$1,500 and -$2,500 levels.Robert K S wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 1:26 pmSpeaking of Michael Collins, I just chanced upon this old Celebrity game in the Archive where his crewmate Buzz Aldrin Clavined himself out of the win.mas3cf wrote:Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins has died at age 90

I'm not absolutely certain about this, but I believe the San Diego Padres were the last remaining MLB team never to record a no-hitter in franchise history.

That said, a few of those are combined no hitters which, IMO, don't count. The Orioles now have the longest single pitcher no hitter drought, with Jim Palmer's on Aug 13, 1969.

It was the first non-perfect game where the pitcher didn't give up a walk, a hit batsman, or an error. The only base runner reached on a wild pitch third strike, and was erased on an attempted stolen base. Now the Pirates have the longest such [single pitcher no hitter] gap, as they are without an individual no-no since John Candelaria’s in 1976.

I suppose if you had made a bet of some type that suddenly became a winner and still had the ticket you could get paid for it. Not much of a chance people who already cashed winners will return it.triviawayne wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 6:15 pmDoes anyone know what would happen with gambling money that has been paid out?

The official results have been posted. In the last couple of years one or two similar occurrences have happened with no change in payouts.
Books won’t have to do anything. But it wouldn’t surprise me if an online book or two decide to pay tickets on Mandaloun win bets only.

Bettors who backed Medina Spirit, however, would keep their winnings, while supporters of Mandaloun would be left with losing tickets.

I'm no lawyer, but it sounds to me like the Mandaloun betters could have a class-action case against the Medina Spirit team for cheating them out of winnings.Volante wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 6:48 pmBeat me to it, but have a 3rd party quote anyway:Golf wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 6:31 pm The official results have been posted. No clues about him in the Archive... I would think if he was too obscure in life for the J! canon, he'll remain too obscure in death. Time will tell!

Sorry to hear this. Of course Iron Maiden was snubbed.cinemaniax7 wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 10:38 am The 2021 class being inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame includes Jay-Z, the Go-Go’s, Tina Turner, Todd Rundgren, Carole King, and Foo Fighters. Special awards are being given to LL Cool J, Kraftwerk, Charley Patton, Gil Scott-Heron, Billy Preston, metal guitarist Randy Rhoads, and Clarence Avant.
King and Turner join Stevie Nicks as the only women to be selected for induction twice. Turner was inducted in 1991 as part of a duo with Ike Turner. King was previously inducted in 1990 along with former partner Gerry Goffin in the songwriting category. Neither King nor Turner had ever been nominated as a solo artist until this year.
This was also the Go-Go's first nomination despite being eligible for the past fifteen years.
Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters also becomes a double inductee, having previously been brought in as the drummer for Nirvana.
