Playwright angle did not work for me; cosmetics did
No Avon for me though my mom did work for Fuller Brush some time when Nixon was in office.
Definitely saw Michael Colton on “I Love the…” series.

Got Avon through the playwright angle. My wife has bought Avon and her mother used to sell it.

I needed the home of a playwright bit for Avon.
I thought of Zane Grey first, then thought, "It's a $2,000 clue; it can't be that easy" and switched to Louis L'Amour. :/

I don't know what's meant by "saw Michael Colton on TV" but I saw A Futile and Stupid Gesture on Netflix so I guess I saw him

Sudan – I didn't like it, was pretty sure it was wrong, but not sure enough to not say it.
Cosmetics got me to Avon, playwright confirmed it.
Pretty sure I haven't seen Michael before.
Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaut of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?

Totally forgot about Eritrean independence, said DRC, thinking it might have lost its access to the Atlantic.

Needed the playwright to get Avon

Have not seen Michael before

Opposite in numbers to how I did last week...
I used to watch Best Week Ever so I may have seen him but he made no impression. A lot of funny people on that show.

No guess on the rest as usual.

I have bought Avon before. I used to use Skin So Soft for my eczema.

I couldn’t pull up Zane Grey in time. I’m sure I’ve seen Colton on those awful VH1 shows but he wasn’t memorable. I got all 5 again.

I wanted the director of the Godfather, and knew has a daughter named Sofia that is a director, but could not pull the name.
Picked South Sudan, knowing it was recent and wrong. Partly because of misreading clue and looking for a small country, but I could not have gotten Ethiopia and only learned about Eritrea on the show (and here).

I'm surprised that core drilling is off so many radars. We know earth's greenhouse gas history through these things by releasing air that has been trapped for eons (figuratively, I have no idea of the literal length of time). ETA - an eon is about a billion years, so I don't think any contemporary ice is that old. Still, old. ETA2 - 2.7 million years is the current oldest ice core.

Most of Michael Cotton's credits are writing credits -- the only thing he's actually been on-camera in is a movie about "National Lampoon" magazine, "A Futile and Stupid Gesture."

But I have seen that.

I wanted the link to go directly to the appearances as self, but it did not work. It's the VH1 shows when he was a commentator as himself that got him noticeable screen time.

Even on my 5/5 weeks, Mark usually trips me up on one of the extras. Not this week, though. Nice try, Mark!

And there should have been a box, "I'm pretty sure I've never seen any of Michael Colton's shows". Would have made me 9/9.

I went to playwrights first on Wednesday and Shakespeare seemed more likely than Elmer Rice or Clifford Odets. But if I hadn't heard of Avon products, I'd more likely have guessed "Stratford".
I'm smart and I want respect.

I've purchased Avon "Skin So Soft" lotions in the past because they were reputed to function as bug repellants, but then I realized I didn't care for the scent either!
