I want to see how Matt does, so I'm going to watch. If he wasn't involved, I might not watch.

Yes; the real question should be: Will you watch Matt Amodio's next episode(s) even though Mike Richards is hosting? ;)

In sympathy with Ken and Buzzy, I'm going to watch on a remote monitor from my garden shed.

If I could sit through Dr. Oz and LeVar Burton's games, why not?

it's the game that matters...so, yes.

I thought he quit before they taped any new episodes.

Nope, he quit after the first day of taping. So there are five episodes with Richards as host.

This.

The contestants are the stars, and Matt is one of the show's higher-magnitude stars.

Then again, while I'll certainly record the shows during the week of September 13, I'll be tempted to wait until September 20, and only go back to watch the previous week if Matt didn't extend his 18-game streak to 23 games.

For that matter, if Matt's streak ends before his 24th game, there will be what amounts to an asterisk next to his record. If he doesn't reach Game 24, we'll never know whether he might have had a better chance at surpassing Julia Collins' 20-game streak if he hadn't been the reigning champ when the chaos broke out around him.

I will watch unless life gets in the way and it doesn't fit my routine. I'd like a mulligan on Ken Faber's hosting based on the comments here, but I guess my Hawaiian vacation was worth the sacrifice :).

I don't care who the host of the actual telecast is (or isn't). 61ish clues, a little human interest in the middle, all in 22 minutes - good 'nuf. It wouldn't bother me any if the show became more fun to watch for less hardcore audiences. If I was Exec Producer - a) pay $3K/$2K for the 2nd/3rd, b) put an on-screen scoreboard so the competition aspect is better developed, and c) tiebreakers in FJ format until there is a miss/make. This could be cropped into 20 seconds easily by skipping the indeterminate attempts.

For 2nd, $3K or actual score, whichever is higher

For 3rd, $2K or actual score, whichever is higher

I doubt whatever turmoil existed in the studio on Thursday had any impact on Matt.

I will again say the show should make a deal with a hotel to put players up for free in exchange for an on air plug.

I'd personally be fine with bumping the 2nd- & 3rd-place payouts to $3K & $2K, respectively, so that the non-winning contestants are more able to afford the cost of their trip to L.A. for the taping, but I feel like allowing non-winning contestants to keep all of their winnings in the event that they win more than the consolation prizes would risk disincentivizing attempting to win, insofar as contestants may be less likely to make bigger DD & FJ bets in order to take the lead.

You are obviously unaware how this affected game play in the old days. It's never going to happen again.

If I can figure out a (preferably legal) way to watch them without cable, then I will gladly watch them. As others have said, I watch for the game, not the host.

I'll be watching. I wouldn't miss it. I want to see how Matt does. I'm rooting for him to pass Roger Craig's old single day record and maybe bump one of Holzhauer's games down a notch on the record list. I think he's had the chance to make the right FJ wager a couple of times, but couldn't back it up with a correct response.

Richard's hosting will be adequate. It's his off-screen behavior that is the problem.

As Golf has alluded to, there is some ancient history demonstrating that gameplay is severely affected if you keep your game score. I recall reading about a player who had won enough to buy a boat, and just sat on his buzzer the rest of the game. The game needs to be played as if it is house money until a player reaches a lock total.

At least the show doesn't give the crap prizes of the past and offers a little expense money. It just needs to be increased - 3 days off work plus travel/lodging should be a $2K reimbursement. The players are subsidizing the show and that's just bogus.

Sorry for the detour on the thread, but just how much more oxygen do we need to waste on Mike Richards?
