TD 466 - Pink Floyd (all questions revealed)

Post by Ironhorse »

Welcome to TD 466! These clues are loosely based on Pink Floyd songs - no knowledge of music is required for this quiz.

Rules/Notes
1) Lowest point total wins; your score for each question is equal to the total number of players submitting that same answer
2) You may use one drop and take zero points for one question
3) You may elect to take the "sheep" (most popular) answer for one question
4) Wrong responses are the "sheep" answer +3
5) Ten correct answers with no wrong answers, sheep, or drops will result in a -4 point bonus.
6) All answers are due by 4 PM Eastern time on Wednesday, September 29, 2021
7) Don't cheat.
8) Submit here: https://forms.gle/KKZmFgjGkP1aeH3e7

1. Lucifer Sam

This song is much more innocent than the title suggests; referring to Syd Barrett's cat. Identify one of these diabolical sounding things, most of which are also much more benign than the name will suggest.

Motorcycle club banned in the Netherlands in 2019
2005 White Stripes album that takes its name from a quotation in Mark 8:33
Bill Watterson acknowledged that he named this character, Calvin’s teacher, from a character in the Screwtape Letters
Mascot of Wake Forest University (take care not to take a detour 80 miles to the east in Durham)
1955 musical comedy, or “High Enough” rock supergroup
This location became the first US national monument in 1906, and played a key role in a 1977 film
“Sucks to your ass-mar” is a memorable quotation from this 1954 novel
Reality TV show set near Gloucester, Massachusetts that has aired on the National Geographic Channel since 2012
In 2018, Google quietly moved this three word phrase from the preface of its code of conduct

2. See Emily Play

Identify the (generally accepted) playwrights behind one of these famous plays.

Waiting for Godot (1953)
Uncommon Women and Others (1977)
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (1966)
Spring Awakening (1891)
Angels in America (1991)
The Crucible (1953)
August: Osage County (2017)
Othello (~1603)
Hedda Gabler (1891)

3. Careful With That Axe, Eugene

Name a three letter word other than AXE that has the letter X in it.

4. Atom Heart Mother

Name the mother of one of these individuals.

St. Augustine
Carrie Fisher
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Kelly Osbourne
Lenny Kravitz
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge
Elijah Blue Allman

5. Time

Answer one of these questions relating to the measurement of time.

He was the first man to run a mile in under four minutes
525,600 minutes are in a year, according to a song from this hit musical
The title of this 2014 Fall Out Boy hit indicates how long the song’s narrator expects to be remembered
The Doomsday Clock set by this organization currently projects us at 100 seconds till midnight
Methuselah has the longest lifespan of any man in the Bible; specifically, this many years
Word for a five year period; taken from the five years in between censuses in the Roman Empire
This wildly popular video game created by North Carolina company Epic Games is a homophone of a certain measure of time
The only one of the 48 contiguous US states that does not recognize Daylight Savings Time
The Guinness Book of World Records recognized “You Suffer” by this band as the shortest song ever recorded, at 1.316 seconds in length.

6. Wish You Were Here

This song contains a line beginning "can you tell a green field...". Name one of the nine standard baseball fielding positions. (Hint: "Designated hitter" will not be accepted, and "outfielder" is not specific enough.)

8. Sheep

Identify one of these answers, all of which have been sheep answers on one of my previous TDs (the clues have been rewritten).

Term for a country dependent on one product for export, as well as a clothing company

9. Welcome to the Machine

This song is critical of the business end of the music industry. We all know that certain aspects of the television industry have proved controversial as well. Name somebody who has hosted Jeopardy! since the passing of Alex Trebek.

Give the full name of one of these famous Johns.

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist
Would-be presidential assassin; released from psychiatric care in 2016

That after going with Damn Yankees over Devil's Tower and Miller over Shakespeare.
Three poor decisions = plenty of wool.

Guess we can just use my score as the "ALL SHEEP LINE" so far.

The title of this 2014 Fall Out Boy hit indicates how long the song’s narrator expects to be remembered Centuries

The Guinness Book of World Records recognized “You Suffer” by this band as the shortest song ever recorded, at 1.316 seconds in length. Napalm Death
