Damn, Jonathan did a great job holding his own today and showed how much of a worthy "giant killer" he was.

Also, on a more harsh (but humorous) note to those who were celebrating Matt's loss online because they thought it would mean the return of competitive games: How is that working out for all of you?

And there goes my FJ streak. Makes sense after the fact, but no chance I get it. Guessed Nast.

The first segment opened with a $200 clue and ended with the first three categories L-R completed almost exactly straight down.

60 clues and that time's up signal were things new for this season. What has not changed is no woman champ since July.

Robinson-Gissette's words during chat: tetragametic chimera

Jonathan with a 31,000 Coryat showed yesterday was no fluke and he took names & numbers in WHO DIRECTED IT? for strength in stuff from the entertainment industry.

Usually it is good news when I match the champ in the FJ! round. Not today, as I went for humor to avoid a blank page. Everything I thought of was a miss: Simon & Schuster, Rand McNally, Houghton Mifflin

With more time I'm sure I would have Hardy/Drew-ed Grosset & Dunlap.

The correct response was not on my radar at all and I suspect I would have thrown in the towel on LL before getting it. Nice sole solve by Brittany to earn the $2K.

That was the best I could come up with. Even if the correct response had come to mind, it would have been a coin flip with "Row".

For those who are interested in trivial contestant superlatives, at 17 characters, Robinson-Gissette has the longest given name of any contestant in the Archive. I bumped the nickname field character count up (from 15 to 20) in the database so that we didn't have to abbreviate it.

Yes, I was wondering about this.

Gotta love local television stations!

As I posted yesterday, the local station replayed Friday's show. They just gave an apology for their "technical" error and to fix their mistake, they are showing last night's game tonight. No mention of when they are airing Jonathan's 2nd game. ;)

Sadly, Penguin Bros Publishing never... took off.

I assume you watch on WBTW. They did what you mentioned and this article says that they are airing tonight's episode (Jonathan's second game) at 1:37 AM:

I guessed Random. No, seriously, I guessed Random for FJ. ;)
I really do not want more director or actor categories in the game. :(

Harper was a WAG for me. Thankfully, it broke my streak of bad luck after five incorrect FJs in a row.

There seems to be less celebration of the players since the beginning of season 38. There was no acknowledgement that Jonathan ran two categories ("Let's Introduce the 'Band'" and "Who Directed It?"). They've been adding applause in post-production since the beginning of Covid, but I haven't seen any applause for any big DD wagers or an excellent performance at the end of DJ! The recent executive producer-related turmoil is probably the reason for this.
My lucky numbers are 6, 66, and 666.

First FJ of the season that I had absolutely no idea for a response.

Extra points to anybody who got the Nahum -> Capernaum connection. I whiffed on that one trying to think of disciple-related towns that started with N. I knew Nazareth was wrong but couldn't come up with anything else.

Harper was a guess based on the magazine angle. I was surprised it turned out to be correct.

All the other garbage in the $200 clue completely distracted me from the "and sons" TOM. Between that and another "name this person entirely from their picture" clue, I was 3/5 there.

No hope on FJ!

Whoa I got BTFO on the directors category. A rare 0/5 for me. (Am I allowed to say BTFO? )
