The coin flip did not work for me today as I went with
Spoiler
"Shaken, not stirred."
From Wikipedia: "In the film adaptations of Fleming's novels, the phrase is first uttered by the villain, Dr. Julius No, when he offers the drink in Dr. No (1962), and it is not uttered by Bond himself (played by Sean Connery) until Goldfinger (1964)."

Re: Tuesday, November 16, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
Archiving will be delayed as I did not get first segment due to issue with Paramount+
Michael lost 4000 on DD2 and if he solved it then he wins the game. Rebecca lost 3000 on DD3 and if she solved it then she wins the game. Tough to win when letting solvable DDs get by you. Michael had no way of knowing that the old standard pretty 2K on the nose for DD2 would have won him the game.
Andrew did not gain anything on DD2 and DD3, but his opponents missing those chances set him up for the needed lock in a game with the FJ! clue going 2/3.
My precalls off the FJ! category were GWTW, Casablanaca and Godfather.
As fast as I could write I matched the challengers when the FJ! clue was revealed. Andrew is fortunate is miss did not cost him the game. At least his wager was elite.
That will suck for Hammer if he get the series, but guesses, "Shaken, not stirred."
When I am able to archive the game later this afternoon that's good to know it's fine to have tagged the Andrew games yesterday a day early.

I wasn't even sure whether to consider the correct response three distinct words.MarkBarrett wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 1:48 pm Ouch, I had not seen your post yet when I made the Hammer joke in my remarks. Sorry that happened.

I have no doubt that'll be the MCWA. What saved me there is I've memorized two lists:Robert K S wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 1:43 pm The coin flip did not work for me today as I went with

In a case of what's the harm I checked around and found today's game to get the part I missed. FJ! Guy is updated and I'll work on archiving now.

on the big clues. I was supposed to get hot tub out of that clue? OTOH was happy to remember Rijksmuseum, since it has come up a lot recently. There is no excuse for not getting 95 Theses.
Shaken, not stirred wasn't on the radar.
Joan Rivers was a TS?

Re: Tuesday, November 16, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
I'd always imagined Luther posting 95 individual sheets of paper, but I guess such extravagance would have undercut his message.
I'm smart and I want respect.
Re: Tuesday, November 16, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
3 word phrase: Uh... "I'll be back"? Nope, too early. "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn?" nope, that's too long. "As God is my witness..." nope.
Okay, try the other way. What else could have 25 films? Uh................................. I can't think of anything.
I swear, you can literally put it in my hands and I still won't be able to catch it.

Right film series, wrong quote. I'm not the only one who went with "shaken, not stirred" anyway.

For some reason, I couldn't think of how to shorten, "My name is Bond, James Bond." Oh well.

Re: Tuesday, November 16, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
EXOPLANETS $800 ("Wider for hotter stars, the habitable zone is the area around a star within which this can exist on a planet's surface") was poorly pinned and "life" should have been accepted. The whole reason why we would be interested in liquid water is the potential presence of life, hence the name, "habitable zone". It was the writers' fault, not Michael's, that "life" wasn't considered as a potential correct response.
I can excuse not getting "95 Theses". Albert of Brandenburg, the Archbishop of Mainz, is not a well-known part of the story, and we don't usually think of him as "receiving" the Theses so much as having to dislodge them from the door of the church. It helps if one knows that the nailing of the Theses is much more likely myth than fact in order to get this clue right.

Mrs P went that way as well. If I'd thought of it, I might have been tempted. It does somehow seem like more of a "phrase" than the correct response.Robert K S wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 1:43 pm The coin flip did not work for me today as I went with

Re: Tuesday, November 16, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
After Andrew's correct response on the Lebowski clue, I paused the game to say "Or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing." Then I resumed play and Ken repeated what I had just said (minus the "El"). No one else is going to add that kind of value to the show. No one. Hire. This. Man. Now.
