Thanks for putting the name of the 5th category in the j! round, (I honestly couldn't read it when the $500 clue was revealed. BUT I assumed it was "cooking with graham kerr" because he's the only famous chef named graham that i know of.)

One other thing, about the missing category name in the jeopardy round (on the october 26 1993 episode) (I hate to sound like a jerk and if i do I apologize), but I WOULD THINK the odds are it's a name that was used in a previously entered game,)

I have a long term goal,

I am asking for anybody who has time to put in any season 1-12 episodes that are missing.

That is literally the only thing you've ever posted about here. The archivists are limited by what they can find. If you have any of these episodes yourself, send the tapes/DVDs/betamax/potato-cam/whatever form you have it in! Episodes aren't going to just magically appear.

Stop posting things like this. We'll get to them when we have them or have time. It's not "your goal" to demand or command.

I'm goddamned sick of seeing this thread bumped and coming in hoping for a new-to-me game, just to see that it's you wanting more games archived. We all want more games archived, including the Archivists. It's not lack of time or motivation that's keeping the games from being archived.

If a fan of the movie has a strong need for some kind of ERRATUM then let me know and I can add something.
I'm going off memory here, but that line as typed doesn't even ring a bell. He says the iconic two words several times, but I know there's at least two variants it's involved in.
Thanks. I'll monitor the correction suggestions that come in as well. For now I'll leave the clue as is.

I added what I had of 7/12/89: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6090

With introductions missing for this game I went with Hart over Harte for Maureen’s last name when Alex said it. For Gil I heard something in the neighborhood of Honnaker, Honager, Honneger etc. with too many possibilities to take a guess.

Finding even this portion of a 1989 seniors game was a surprise, since that is the one tourney I thought I had none of on tape. With other tournaments I expect a lot more complete games and incomplete ones the rarity. [Fingers crossed]

I've never actually heard the word good used as a grade for meat. I thought the next one down from prime and choice was select.

This is certainly true now, after some digging I found that good was changed to select in November 1987, which would make it surprising that Jeopardy! was asking for Good roughly a year and a half later. It's possible the change was announced in 1987 but not enacted for consumers until some later date, I suppose.

This is how we get some more old games:

Image

Amy asked to borrow a VCR and Howard hooked it up to make sure it still works. Bernadette asked, "What's on the tape?"

After what is shown on the CC, Howard says, "but if I push play and you see some naked people..."
Bernadette: Got it. What is porn? [Laughter]
Howard: Ooh, we were looking for vintage '80s erotica, but I'll accept it.

Sg won't have to break any commandments as this is a legitimate bump.

I filled in 2/1/02: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=1389

It's S18 so the links should all be working with a couple the video and not just .jpg variety.

The J! writers were busted for poor clue pinning on Embassy $600. $800 in the category will be fun for those playing South Africa city roulette.

LLers will notice Briefly $600 has a bit of related familiarity to a question from last week.

Quite the audience for the FJ! clue performance:
Spoiler
#950, aired 1988-10-21 GERSHWIN $800: Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Victor Herbert & J.P. Sousa went to its premiere on Lincoln's birthday, 1924

The links should work.

Ouch on Erin biting on a false TOM at FEATURE FILM DEBUTS $2000. Contestants on before the heyday of social media can sometimes count themselves fortunate.

DD3 had no audible phrasing. The editor must have clipped it as the possibility of the judges asleep at work does not seem right. The bigger all too common crime was the wager.

Sorry, I won't be able to archive anymore games.

Until next year.

And Happy New Year, everyone. I've got a couple of weeks off to start the new year, so I'm hoping to get a few games knocked off the old checklist, or as least get some organizing of my tapes and workspace going. We'll see.

http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6070

Anyway, maybe I should have held this one off for 4 more days, since it's from almost exactly 27 years ago, January 6, 1992, Bruce Gardner vs. Janet Sargent vs. Todd Lefkowitz. This is the first game from a pair of tapes that were donated by ToC/M$M/UToC/BotD player India Cooper. Unfortunately, they do not include her own games, but we've got about 10 or 12 of those awesome, quick to enter early '90s games you all know I love so much.

This game adds a good number of facts to the J!-Canon including Ellen "Maximum" Morphonios (specifically her occupation), the play "Captain Brassbound's Conversion" (surprising, given its author), and the minister to Elizabeth I who stated that "bad money drives out good" (a fact you may remember from my way-too-difficult practice contestant exam from about 15 years back). That economic law has been mentioned a number of times on the show, but this is the only instance we have of the fellow's name being asked for.
Spoiler
What is a judge?
Who is George Bernard Shaw?
Who is Gresham?
There's a couple of other ones, but I'll leave them for you all to find. I thought Evelyn Waugh's "The Loved One" might be new, but it's appeared quite a few times actually. It's new to me though.

Also new to me, the clue of the game, FAMOUS WOMEN for $400 (J!):
This woman & her partner Adolph Green were named to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1980
Spoiler
Who is Betty Comden?
She's been asked for 4 times, always in conjunction with him, and most recently in 1993, so you might want to save that flashcard for something a little more relevant. He's been asked for just once, in conjunction with her, and also they spotted you "Green", which seems like a lot of help to me.

Interestingly, FJ! is basically a re-write of GREEK MYTHOLOGY for $200, a top row DJ! clue in this game from 3 years earlier. It does feel a little tough for a top row clue, even in Double Jeopardy.

Hope you all have a good day and a happy Hardcastle.

There's still a few more unarchived games on this site (scroll down to the bottom of the page to find them): http://archive.org/details/@pannoni4

October 1, 1991 (starts at clue #12)
October 17, 1994
October 18, 1994 (first round only)

I did get it started that night. And today I got it finished. Jonathan Loeb vs. Eileen Doherty vs. Greg Shepherd (who looks like Allen Ludden from a distance).

http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6154

Quick recap.

The CELEBRITY JEOPARDY! category in the J! round predates Celebrity Jeopardy! by a year. (Celeb. J! was a thing in the Fleming era though, of course.)

I went through quite a google-rabbit hole trying to figure the connection between Tom Dooley the song and Tom Dooley the doctor. (Spoiler, there really isn't one.)

Clue of the game will be a tough OPERA clue worth knowing for $1000:
Enrico Caruso made his U.S. debut on November 23, 1903 as the Duke of Mantua in this opera
Spoiler
What is Rigoletto?
FJ! is hard, even today. Anyone have a good in to the clue? Is one movie more famous than the others?

Next game, not sure, plenty to choose from. See you later.

(And yes, I am writing this while playing Confetti.)

Indeed the final seems very tough. The miniseries starring Gary Cole had just aired earlier that year so maybe it could have been fresh in the mind, and it won 4 emmies which could have been even fresher in the mind, possibly just before taping. (Then again I’m not sure anyone knew who Gary Cole was before Office Space which was still nearly a decade away.) Obviously none of this helped the 3 on stage...

No clue for me on the FJ! clue as I did not then or now know where to go with it although it rings a faint bell after seeing it. I guessed Captain Kidd to have something, thinking perhaps some kind of pirate. I knew not to go with Robin Hood.

I will defend Gary Cole's fame and say Midnight Caller lasting three seasons (1988-91) (bias for filmed in S.F. & and my dad got an autographed photo of the actor for me) and his turns as Mike Brady (1995 & 96) easily made him a known name years before the 1999 movie, Office Space.
