In between England, and now I can see it, Portugal is one more crossed off. It looks like "land" at the end. Scotland perhaps?

Ah yes, that is definitely Scotland, with Portugal being the final one to the lower right. I was trying to see Portugal where Scotland was, which Bamaman said he could clearly see, and I just wasn't seeing it.

So...
Spain
England (crossed out)
&
Scotland (crossed out)
Portugal

seems like the most likely lineup.

I would agree with that.

And another FJ misspelling by Jill. But at least the letter she changed is often a neutral schwa sound, and thus in my opinion more replaceable than the D at the end of Thurmond is negligible.

Lucien Schmit's debut from 9/13/96 is now in the archive: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=3955

For the 1930s $800 what would be an American equivalent for that kind of embarrassing blunder since Elijah was introduced as originally from Toronto? Or is it no different than when I mess up clues about NYC?

Any state other than Hawaii when spotted 'island'

Ah, but that's a trick question, as there is no correct response.

The Dominion of Newfoundland, later known as the Province of Newfoundland, and currently the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, is not an island.

And the island does not have a capital.

The Jeopardy! writers should know that.

Would it be a blunder not to get Alaska, should the clue read "This current island state was purchased by the U.S. from Russia in 1867"?

Why? Do no other states contain any islands?

...but the senator, while insisting he was not intoxicated, could not explain his nudity.

If I had 50 cents for every math question I got right, I'd have $6.30 by now.

I was going to say "No other state constitutes solely of islands" but apparently the Dominion was also made of both the mainland and island parts (I didn't bother looking it up, I just guessed the Dominion consisted solely of the island part of the current province).

However, none of this still makes the contestant's answer anywhere close to an island in the first place.

No, but even born and buttered Canadians who have lived all their lives here get St. John's (Newfoundland) and St. John (New Brunswick) mixed up. St. John isn't the provincial capital of New Brunswick (imagine the greater confusion if it was!), but it was probably a knee-jerk ring-in on his part.

How can I become an archivist? I have several games not in the archive and I would really like to add them. Let me know how I can join.
Thanks

There's a rhyme category for those who enjoy agreeing/disagreeing with the writers. We know who will like World Flags. Jill couldn't misspell her FJ response this time.

To any of you who can pull Fashion $1000 you have great recall.

Country, Thomas. COUNTRY. Not city. (Not that I knew it.)

Would've loved to see $2000 in Cartoonists. I actually knew Momma, but NHO Herblock since I tend to ignore political cartoons. (Not because I don't want to know what's going on, but because they're all the same. Grossly exaggerated caricatures, labels all over everything, and punchlines that even I, the least subtle person on the planet, think are ham-fisted.)

April 10, 1992 is now in the archive: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=3960

Check out what happens from clue 16-25 in the DJ round.

If you don't get Age of Chivalry $800 then you have to write his name 10 times on the chalkboard.

I didn't get it, what were you talking about? Is there some joke I'm not getting?
