As you may know, Paul Boymel's run was from 1/18/85-1/24/85.

Yes, that's how I dated it. And then I confirmed it by checking the TV listings to see that the movies being advertised being shown after Jeopardy matched up.

I don't want to share the video itself widely since it's a home recording.

Paul Boymel and Jim Timmermann tied on January 23. Paul Boymel won outright on January 24 to become a 5-time champ and then 3 new people came on the next day.

Oh yeah, you know, I have an Internet Archive account. I upload Jeopardy episodes from time to time.

Oh yeah, I remember John Genova's run from November 1984.

J! round is in: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6487 and I'll work on rest later.

The recording did not seem to have Gary's introduction. I got the job off chat time and took a try at the last name which would not be a graphic anyway.

Very nice to find missing Season 1 games.

The openings of both episodes didn't record well. But I will have to go tell my brother in 1985 to be more careful! :)

Also the applause after seemingly every correct answer was actual studio clapping. The "applause" sign lit up a LOT.

I have a few unarchived episodes from the 3rd season. I'll upload them to my Internet Archive account during the week.

1/23/85 is complete: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6487

Congrats to Jim not getting locked out in a 9R to 32R game. 10W by Paul was ridiculous though not uncommon for lots of misses in S1 games

Here is a fun moment from the show.

That's a deeeep cut on MOVIE TRIVIA for $500.

We get a couple of new games from a ToC player, AND a "spineless jellyfish" reference. Nice.

Thanks for sharing these games with us, Wes. That's some high quality video for almost 40 years old.

Was the 1/23/85 the 1st episode in which Final J! ended in a tie?

You didn't ask about co-champions, you asked about ties.

Interesting. Did Paul Boymel always wager to tie? If so, it would be interesting to know his reasons.

I know this is controversial, but if the scores were $6,300 to $3,200 and third place was out, and I felt confident about the category, I would have been tempted to not only not wager to tie, but to bet more than the MSB $101 (though probably no more than $3,099, just to be sure second place could not bet nothing and/or get it wrong and win).
