We welcome the book "Devices and Desires" to the J-Canon, as a clue to its author
Spoiler
P. D. James
.

The book was about 3 years old when this episode aired. It was the most recent of her detective novels to have been released before the tape date.

Archie played DD3 on DJ30 leading 9900 to 9100 and bet 1000. He then missed it to trail for the FJ! round. What a way to throw away $4,300 real money.

Alex and Eric provided no help for Eric's FJ! clue response:

What is it Late

I reviewed lists of classic novels and can't figure what he might have been going for.

Yeah, I was thinking either 'it' or 'St.', but neither is any help.

I'm only a few clues in for archiving. It will be slower-going as I'm half paying attention to the Dodgers/Giants game.

ACTORS & THEIR ROLES $100: Former TV Academy president Diana Muldaur plays attorney Rosalind Shays on this series

I laughed while entering the clue in thinking, "Not for long". It looks she got the shaft on the March 21 episode and the game was recorded on Feb. 26.

Using the chat segment I filled in what I could for the challengers, with the introductions not on the recording.

If someone wants Lyons for Mary Anne or Vaughan for Michael then please post.

Is this her, by chance? Obit

I found a Mary Anne Lyons who authored quite a few Irish history books, but no way to tell if that was her. Mary Anne Lyons also seems to be a not uncommon name. Found a Facebook hit for the no-S version.

I see what you did there.

Wasn’t her demise on the show leaked before airing? I just seem to remember watching that episode waiting for the elevator doors to open. If so, would think that would have to be one of the earliest leaks in TV history.

I’ve looked multiple times at the FJ scribble from the prior game entered and I’m stumped as well. Pretty sure the first word is IT which doesn’t makes sense. Almost like he tried to be funny and write WHAT IS IT COLE?

My intuition is that Michael's occupation is going to turn out to have been attorney.

Mark, this should be October 28, 1991 for this one. If I'm not mistaken, this might be the last week of episodes where the letters went blue-red-white-blue-red-white with both color sets. So November 18, 1991 was the first regular episode where the letters go red-white when the set is blue and vice versa.

Fixed my post, thanks. That's what I get for trying a copy/paste from the previous game in updating the game id, but forgetting to do the date.

Sure, but who wouldn't want an SNES instead of a trip to the Bahamas?

Just an NES even though it's 1992. :o

When I watch TPIR and the showcase is 3 trips, my bid from home is always $107,000. To make I'm over.

Fixed, thanks. OCR loves to do that in 1992 area games (as well as period instead of comma) and I will sometimes overlook spotting a stray i, especially next to a t.

FWIW, just a few weeks later, the Super Nintendo versions of Jeopardy! and WOF came out and were offered to losing contestants starting on October 5, 1992: https://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=2571
